I swapped in the rear panels from an '02. Removed the rear inside panel to get more inside. I was surprised how much more room there was.

Also, secured the purchase of an eLocker axle!!! :)

Finally did my rear diff breather mod...long after I already blew the axle seal.
Oh well, should be much happier moving forward.
DO THIS EASY MOD!! $5 to save you $500

Today I replaced the spark plugs and wires, which I should have done when I replaced the timing, belt but I was lazy...

I also started to chase an issue that just started to happen. I took it on a trip to Monterey (which is about an hour and a half away), and after an hour of driving, I would periodically get no response when I stepped on the pedal. This would last between 5-10 seconds, and it would sometimes go away after I reapplied pressure onto the pedal. At a constant speed around 2500 RPMs, it would pulse for a couple of seconds, and I could see that tach go up and down with it. After reading a few threads, I think it's the TPS because of its intermittent nature, but honestly have no idea. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it pretty well as well as checked all vacuum and electrical connectors, but all looked good. Fuel filter was just replaced, and if it were the injectors, it should be happen for frequently. I'm going to look for a junkyard throttle body and pull the sensor off just to try something. In the meantime, I guess I just have to deal with it!

Here are a couple of pics from the plugs and wires:

MAF. This to me cries out MAF. I had mine doing this and the actual MAF had gone bad. Once it was replaced, no problems.

Built a cargo drawer

seems to be a pretty common thing to build. I didn't really have an exact plan when I started (unusual for me), but it turned out better than I thought. All the wood was left over pieces of plywood I have laying around, so It only cost me the hardware (maybe $20). Pretty happy so far, just need to do the final finishing touches.

These are just scrap pieces of wood I cut, two are attached to the box and one to the side of the drawer, on each side. It's an old-school, cheap approach. Sanded smooth and slicked up with a bar of soap makes them open and close pretty easily.
I have a Magellan Cooler from Academy, I really like it, we use it all the time. I have a soft cooler from Rtic and sever of their bottles. They make excellent products. In fact lots of them are on sale right now on their website.

Awesome. Been seeing a lot more of these lately. ..to bad my slightly modified 4runner..can't use this style. I've been brain working what I'm going to do since I literally just had my dad and I finish the last project.

Installed a set Of OBX headers. To my surprise they fit perfect.

Found out the flange on the stock cat pipe for s 3" and not 2.25". Oh well
I'll fix that.

Haven't driven mine in over a year as I have it sitting on jacks. Got tired of the rough ride that occurs when you have a car for a while. After learning what I needed to do from various friends that work on cars I took the car out of commission and decided to do all suspension work. Finally finished the front and will be moving to the rear as of this coming weekend.

So far what I have done is the following.

[Front suspension]
Replaced all bushings.
Replaced wheel bearings
Painted underside with rubberized undercoating paint.
Cleaned up all bolts that had rust and painted or powder coated them.
Powder coated brake calipers and rebuilt.
Cleaned and re-greased CV joints.
Painted wheel drums black to prevent some rusting.
Painted brake dust shield.
Painted springs.
Replaced shocks with Bilstein's.
Actually I have done a lot more but that will be a huge list.

Still have a lot more to do, but its a hobby and I only do it on weekends from work that's why its taking so long..

Here is one thing that really peeved me off. When I took the guard off of the gas tank to paint, I noticed that there was a dent on the grate like it was jacked up in the wrong place. Once the guard came off there is a big dent in the corner of the gas tank, it looks like it was creased in with some heavy machinery. After being pissed off for a while I started to think what had happened. All I can say is I think the car was made that way with the bad gas tank from the factory. The little dent on the underside of the guard covering the tank could not have caused that damage. At least the tank isn't leaking (only been 16 years now and the car still looks new).

Trying to gather what I need to get done on the rear suspension now as far as bushings to replace.

Had a very busy weekend.. Installed some 231 mm Tundra brakes, some used DR (ICON) coilovers that I reubilt, 7.5 and 8 wrap LC coils and 1998 LC rear shocks (with new lower shock bolts)

Then drove up to my parents in Broken Arrow, OK (500 mile round trip) for Easter and to buy this...

i always say, if you have elocker. Make sure you extend the locker motor breather, because it has a breather to!

Well, it's not so much what I did TO my 3rd Gen, but what I did with it. Gotta love a good kinetic rope.

Is this to keep the heat out or dampen the noise? I thought about doing something like this when I saw it advertised on a site for dampening noise.

It's supposed to do both. Just drove to work and it seemed to be working.
I can listen to my pumping stock radio at a lower volume and where the passenger floor board used to feel warm to the touch, it's cold to the touch.

I've had this problem before with other vehicles. It's most likely a dirty MAF sensor.
