The toughest part will be running an add-a-fuse through the firewall into the fusebox in the cab out to a relay that you splice into the side markers + wire so they go off with ignition off.

Check with your local motor vehicle ordinances to make sure you can run front markers without rears, so you don't get a ticket for having a tail light or two out.

ps, why wouldn't you want the rear markers on? Being visible to other cars from all angles isn't a bad thing in my experience.

I honestly don’t really have a good reason as to why I just want the front parking lights on. I guess I’ve always just liked the look of the amber DRL lights like what the tacomas and tundras have and am trying to replicate that look. I suppose doing your method will convince me to get LEDs for the rear as well haha. Regardless, I plan on doing a makeshift auto shutoff feature somehow by tapping into the ignition.

Hmm, the way I would think about addressing this would be to take the markers OFF full time hot and put them on ignition power, that way they turn off with the truck. Are the front and rear marker lights on separate fuses on your 4runner and are those fuses shared with something else?

A buddy with an electrical diagram of your year truck would be handy to have right about now

Got those tires about 30 days ago. They are great in the rain, can't wait to see how they do in the snow
 
Installed some 1.25" spacers yesterday. The 285s rubbed hard on the UCAs. Sorry that everyone will have to turn their heads to see the stance :rofl:

the front and rear appear to be sharing the same 10A Tail fuse under the hood.
 
I tackled the valve cover and cam gaskets, plugs, wires, and tried my best to slow the rust for the winter.

Its too late in the season to fully strip the truck to really do a thorough job so hopefully this limps it along to next season. Luckily for now everything is still only surface rust. I spent 2.5-3hrs scraping and wire wheeling before hitting it with rust converter, primer, and matte engine enamel.

Its frustrating that the rear is this crusty as everything from the gas tank forward is very clean including the body.

A project for future JewFro is fixing the two bolts that broke taking the hitch off despite a thorough soaking in CRC Knock'er Loose.

I decided to try and conquer my factory fog light issue. I installed some yellow LED lights in the factory fogs and tried to turn them on. Nothing happened. Heard the pop of a fuse. I unhooked the passenger side light and replaced the fuse.... driver side works. Tried plugging in the passenger side and the fuse popped again. 4runner-1 me-0
 
Not a 3rd gen, but helping out my friend with a 3rd gen motor (3.4L swap on his 1990 4Runner, he had some head gasket issues with the 3.0L and this seemed like a better fix).

I did the valve covers gaskets for him on the 3.4L (about 140,000 miles on it). Let me tell you how effortless this job is when the engine is out of the truck, mounted on an engine stand, with no wiring harness on top...

Also pulled off the oil pan and strainer from the 3.4L. The oil pan from the 3.0L will have to go on (for clearance issues) and a new strainer went in too.
