Installed Silverstars. Compared them to the standard bulbs on my Tacoma. Much better.

Crawled under the rig today to do my weekly inspection and discovered that my passenger side inner axle seal is leaking... again. I just replaced that seal in September when I put my reman OEM axle in. Also noticed my driver side outer axle boot is loose and starting to seep CV grease.

I can never catch a break on this thing

I feel your pain. Just give your truck to me and be done :bounce:

lol well besides that and a very small rear main seal leak, it's pretty much ready for ya! Seriously though, I have put a crazy amount of money into this to make it damn near perfect in terms of mechanical related items.

The upside is a *****en, capable ride and no car payments. The downside is they are 17 to 22 years old and stuff wears out.

No matter how clean it is, and how pretty the maintenance records are, owning a 3rd gen is basically to committing to a factory restore.

Let me know when and where to pickup my new truck :bounce:

Alignment

Well I got mine aligned after lifting it and putting new wheels and tires.
3" lift, 285x75x16 BFG KO2 ATs (wheels have too much BS) whoops

Before the alignment there was no rubbing. Now with an alignment done the drivers front will rub on pulling into a parking lot... DOH.
might need a 1" body lift :tsk: I'm sad

285’s are well known to need at least pinch weld mod and some front bumper trimming to completely clear, even with a 3” lift. I could see how running aftermarket UCA’s like Light Racing would be the exception since they are adjustable and helps to move the tire forward if setup and aligned just right. Changing the backspacing on the wheel setup definitely factors in to the amount of contact too.

Shrockworks

the front bumper is but not unless you modded the shit out of the rear bumper. i have the Shrockworks rear and for one the tire does not tilt or even go that high. the swingout goes across the arm. and there are no lights in the bumper. plus there is a license plate holder with leds above. not to say i dont like the bumper but it looks nothing like any of their work i have seen

Gonna be a busy weekend here :). So far I added OEM shims to my OEM front pads, so now the front brakes are done properly, yay!

Bled the brakes. Speedbleeders and a nice catch bottle make life so easy (I won't admit that I knocked over a full freshly opened quart bottle of Castrol LMA, fortunately I caught it midway so only a few ounces spilled):

Replaced front LBJ's. The old ones seemed fine, but I figured that's the first step in my efforts to eliminate the loose steering and wandering. Rack bushing kit is on order.

Keep them as trail spares and if you're gonna do the steering rack bushings you should consider the LCA bushings too since you have to move the rack to do them.

That is my plan

Did you notice a difference while driving after the new ones were installed? I sure did, even though a shop said the old ones were fine. Even though the truck only had 97K miles on it then, I still thought I'd replace them anyways just to be safe.

If you wheel a lot or even occasionally. Keep the old ones in the tuck as a spare. Just incase something happens on a trail. You'll have a spare one "JUST TO GET HOME". It's what I did my wish OTR lol.
