I put on factory rear springs, and lowered my front icon coilovers as low as they will go. Then I smashed the hell out of a crazy icy hill. Uptravel would have been nice haha. I'll try to get a better quality video of it at some point.

You'd probably gotten a bit further if that mid dip break wasn't there. Ice sketches me out. Well, at least sliding back without any control. Well done.

Finally got a chance to install my Treadstone Offroad stealth winch plate for the fat lip 3rd gens. Now I need to figure out a solution to remount the front license plate.

Yeah its 3 bolts per side (14mm heads...not sure of the size. I believe grade 10.9). This one is the prototype to evaluate for full production. We have considered adding wrap around pieces to allow additional bolting into the sides of the frame rails but that would require drilling into the factory stuff. Also looking at including the two black additional brackets for bumper mounting as part of the plate itself.

I’ve been trying to find something like this
I bought a universal winch mount and have been trying to figure out a clean way to get it done. You guys beat me to to it but hey if you need some testing done I’d be willing to try out a prototype. I can get with [MENTION=120071]mtbtim[/MENTION] & [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] and make an install and test vid [emoji41][emoji848]. But seriously

Thanks! It's actually fairly easy to do, the metal is not all that thick on these trucks, not like on my '74 Dart .

Some bumper repair outfit wanted $250 to fix these dents, I'd rather put that money towards something more fun!

I'd hate to piss in your cornflakes, but there's no way those 3 bolts will hold up to heavy winching. The bolts aren't the major problem, it's where they're located and what they're connected to. That end plate is tack welded onto the frame. If you want to add strength, have it tie into the factory tow hook mounts

My OCD is getting the better of me again. Grabbed a couple of plastic interior pieces from a part out to replace the ones on my 97 limited that were bend or broken and also scored a grab handle for the drivers side.

It took me 10 minutes with a hacksaw to cut those plates off the frame. :AK47:

Tack welded my ass. I too spent about 10 minutes with a cutoff wheel getting those bastards off.

I think we both know those plates won't hold the weight of the vehicle when PULLING as the crush bar (push force) mounts to them Lol

Personally, I'd like to have seen integration to the bottom AND side of the frame as well. That way there would be more bolting security, and load displacement. Which is why I went with the TrailGear bumper for my winch mount. That bastard aint going anywhere.

The ice was brutal. The ditches they cut in all the hills to help with drainage really screw things up when winter comes around. Snow isn't so bad, but the glare ice makes things pretty rough. I had a 2 half-assed attempts before that one. Luckily it just so happened some buddies came down that trail and were able to winch me up the last little bit. It was only myself, and another friend who is pretty new to offroading let alone in the winter. I might have been able to make it up alone with another couple try and hitting it faster. Wouldn't have been pretty though haha. Here's that view from my dashcam. Sounds a lot worse than it felt. Still not too bad considering how little uptravel I have right now.

Edit: you can see how slick it is when I back down at the start. The revving is me slipping the throttle trying to get the tires to catch up to how fast they're actually sliding. No hope though, it's a full on toboggan ride. Really happy I was able to find some snow at the top of the hill and actually stop. That would have been a wild ride back down.

I dig it and that’s exactly where I wanted to put mine. I think more bolt holes and brackets would be ideal though.
