What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Well it hasn't failed yet, but I can tell I won't like it. The mount is way too flexible, and the phone keeps bouncing around too much for my liking. I think I am going to design a bracket with a rib on it that can be adhered to the dash at the place where it is adhered now, as well as further down next to the bezel, as sketched out in blue below. That way it won't be cantilevered.

After seeing this post I decided to do my pcv also. Holy crap, mine was just as bad as this one.

Replacing those rear lowers I'd suggest being extra extra sure it is tightened down properly, perhaps even with locktight. When they come off it can be catastrophic. Most folks (like me) are running factory still after all these years. Never removed and little chance they'll come loose. But I have seen here on T4R the aftermath of one coming loose and it basically totalled the whole rear suspension.

Mine came loose after upgrading the control arms. What you notice is, under acceleration the truck moves to one side dramatically. Good breaker bar will get them tight

Mine has held for over a year and I have a big ZTE ZMax piece of shit that weighs a ton. That mount has not failed in any way – even in 108° summer heat.

OK, so I see one just like mine in the same spot as mine - is that what you use for your phone mount? Or do you mean something else where the Garmin is?? Inquiring minds want to know!

Over the last few days, completed installing/replacing the original starter. Using the ever popular removing the passenger wheel, disconnecting the brake lines, removing the auto tranny dipstick method. Also completed the wiring harness and wiring of the ditch lights. Also changed the oil.
Before Christmas break is over, hope to install light bar to top rack and fab up a switch panel.

Guys, am I doomed to cut away from the grill to have the control pack mounted in the standard position? I think my only other option would be to relocate it, but that means I have to have a bracket made.

Got a new to me, good condition passenger side door weatherstrip from LKQ for $16 and installed it on the driver side with some gentle manipulation. I keep looking for good driver sides and just can't find one at the yards.

Also it seems I either need less cargo or I need more lift/taller springs in the rear. The tools, gear and supplies I carry are heavier than expected. Bah humbug.

One of the Christmas presents [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] (aka Sean) gave me was some vinyl stickers for our YouTube channel. I was recently criticized by a well-respected member on this forum for posting our videos too much and that promoting our YouTube channel is somehow a bad thing. Well, these stickers are now on 3 sides of my 3rd Gen to promote our channel. Another gift Sean made me is a Timmy the Toolman t-shirt and he made us business cards. When we're walking or driving and see a 3rd Gen parked (we see tons of them in the California Bay Area), we will put a business card on their windshield so they will know our channel exists. The more 3rd Gen owners we can help with our videos, the better.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. The lower control arms on both my 4runners have been torqued to 5 ugga duggas. I will continue to keep an eye on them checking them periodically to make sure the stay tight.

I recently came across a reddit post on one of the car/mechanic subreddit's, someone needed help with a 4runner TB job, and guess who's video someone posted? Yours.

Said redditor who posted may not even be a part of T4R, so that would mean people are finding your vids through youtube searches and aren't even regular T4R members like us.
