Me too. This is why I'll be doing the full float/disk conversion in the rear eventually.

Tried to install new FJC rear coils. I wasn't happy at all in the way the upper coil barley touched the retainer/mount, too sloppy for my personal comfort so the original springs went back in and I returned the coils to the parts store.
I pulled off the drums for a quick check, one of the shoes has a crack in it so I guess I'll be doing rear brakes soon.

Moved the ARB compressor to the rear cubby of a panel I got from a 2000.
Only to find out that the cubby hits sheet metal on a 98! AHHHHH!

rubber groments at shifter
bought the 4 rubber groments a month ago for 99 4wd limited. replaced the two at the shifter, much tighter feel now. Didnt do the 4wd section, but this made a world of difference. There was alittle learning curve involved, but took my time, cleaned exposed areas and got everything back in one piece. I've had some neutral safety switch issues and i think this might help.

That's a bummer. It wasn't easy even with my 2002. If that's a go-to, then I would just build a mount for the top of the driver's side wheel well if you wanted it inside.

Most people just trim the sheet medal that the cubby is hitting. Im in the process of installing one on mine in a few weeks.

I’m pressed for time, so I’ll clean it up or figure out a fix later.
I cut some plastic since I got the panel for free. Plus I just noticed it’s a lighter color grey.
I’m the original owner, so i cringe at cutting it. Lol!

Not the original owner of mine but the panel I got is lighter than the dark tan I have in my 4R. Id have to get the driver side panel to make it match. Now to source one from the junk yard.

You gotta try the plastic orange juice bottle one man bleeder setup I made.
I'm sure you've seen the 2-3 oz bottle bleeder kits, same principle using 32 oz bottle. Use soft tubing that fits bleeder valve nipple, RTV to seal to bottle cap.
Hook it up pump till you run out of air, or you put air in by running rez dry.

No worries mate, that's part of doing the swap cutting some sheetmetal.

Mainly because I have only done drum brakes once in my life about 30 years ago so I had no idea what I was doing except for some videos that told me to preassemble everything. Found out trying to fight the preassembled mess onto the cylinder was not happening for me and all the vids I saw pretty much fast forward through that part so did it each shoe one at a time and it was much easier. I just don't like fighting with the springs, I need more tools!
