What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Re installed my stock roof rack cross bars then mounted my basket to that. Working on a set up to mount a canoe to. Going to send the basket off to powder coat soon.

I’d remove the shovel from the roof. From experience. After you use the shovel and after it rains. The rust will drop and will stain your windows. Btw small handle shovel is more ideal. Easier to get under and dig the wheels out.

So... I picked up some OT at work and got bored and decided to surf the web got on YouTube and started watching some Timmy videos and decided I needed new bushings. Long story short I bought lower control arm bushings (whiteline-W53377A), sway bar bushings(Prothane-18-1115),and steering rack bushings(Energy Suspension-8.10103R). Still at work as I post this . Freetime on the computer is costly nowadays.

I'm new, forgive the jack, but do we here on the forum have a good guide for idiot's installation of bushings?
This is the one thing I'm afraid of on my suspension refresh...

Thanks - T

Thanks!

I'm hypermiling it every day, I have a P0446 and a completely toed out front end, and I drive over the Eastern Continental Divide every day... :tsk:

Thanks - T

+1
Same thing with hi-lift jack, plus who wants that heavy thing connected to a roof basket?

I found a tiny T handle husky shovel at Home Depot for 10 bucks that was great for digging out underneath the wheels on my knees this past weekend. Also works well for digging a personal latrine

Went to talk to my trusted exhaust guy about my random P0420 code, cats and stock Muffler; his advice was somewhat surprising but also to be expected

He said I shouldn't rush to replace the cats, as long as the code doesn't instantly reappear, I can get away with it until my next smog check in September, and possibly longer, delaying the $600 spend to replace two cats

he was not bullish about replacing the stock Muffler, stating they're made out of stainless steel and pretty much last forever unless water gets trapped in them.

for now I'll keep resetting the 420 code when it appears and trying to track the drive cycles so I can time my smog check in the next 2 months to make sure I don't fail

When this code comes up does the exhaust smell a little dank?

Could you have an exhaust leak upstream allowing 02 in exhaust to rise? That's a pretty common cause. If you're sure the exhaust is tight try Cataclean.I have had more successes than failures using the product according to directions.

Thanks, I'll check out all the options you suggested, however it's also not uncommon for 20 year old cats to die :D

My exhaust guy says they are typically good for 100K, anything after that is a gift, however someone tried to steal mine once like 4-5 years ago, I had well over 100k already at that point lol

Yesterday, Put vacuum pump to A/C system, while it was doing it's thing I installed the Plastic guy's bump stops. Then charged A/C system with 24 oz of freon, lil bit o dye, correct amount of PAG 46 for Condensor & drier swap.
96* F RH 66% 38* output, oh yea.

Replaced passenger side fuel injectors with rebuilt ones from Auto Value. Also reseated the drivers side ones that I installed a few days ago because of a small leak after I put them in. Been trying to get to the bottom of a P0300, P0302, P0305 problem. Replaced plug wires. Same. Replaced spark plugs. Same. Swapped coils. Same. Replacing the fuel filter tonight. Been soaking the fittings for the last few days. Also replacing my plenum gaskets today because the old rubber coated metal ones were looking pretty ratty. Oh the Toyota dealer checked compression, crank and cam sensors before and they are all good. If these injectors and gaskets don't do it I'm swapping the MAF and igniter with a couple of used ones I just got. After that I'll be looking at new coils... the primaries measured 1.1 - 1.2 ohms cold and apparently that's borderline. Not sure how accurate that is because both of my Fluke meters read 0.2 - 0.3 just on the leads... Fun!

Are all your grounds in good shape? Sometimes electrical gremlins stem from a bad ground... I've gone through injectors, coils, etc. in the past only to find out grounding was the problem. Easy enough to check.

Was wondering that myself... so I quickly took a set of jumper cables and hooked them up to the ground and different spots on the engine and frame for a quick test but I'm not sure that's a good test! Haha

Check the resistance from various spots to the negative battery terminal. Should be nearly 0 ohms
