Yup, I hit it with some semi gloss black while I was painting that area for the tranny cooler! :thumb:

On painting the Condensor, did you notice a drop in A/C performance after.
Heat transfer is more critical on A/C systems than Rads or Oil coolers, and why I've never painted the rad or condensor, just wondering.

Haven't noticed any effect so far. To be fair, I did not put on a lot of paint - just a quick spray to give it a bit of color.

I installed a Panavise bracket which I immediately hated and uninstalled because it stabs passengers right in the knee and looks like it could easily gash someones leg open if they weren't careful. I'm going to put a Ram ball mount there instead.

The Panavise bracket is a great mounting point but I agree, the positioning is not ideal. Here's how I set mine up:

Check the resistance from various spots to the negative battery terminal. Should be nearly 0 ohms

Thanks! They are actually hand plane knobs from a elderly relative's tool collection. I'm not much of a woodworker myself, but someone told me once they were rosewood...? I'll endeavor to clarify that point

Hey, everyone I’m new to this forum and forum in general. I can’t post a thread yet since I’m new, so I thought I’d reply to some threads to meet some people. Never had a need to use a forum until I found how hard it is to find my T4R. I’m sure a lot of people are searching for the same ‘dream car’ I am, which is why it’s so hard to find. I am a freelance artist and currently have a 2016 Tocoma Limited but when I travel to gigs or get too wasted at shows I’m to big of a guy to sleep in my truck so I’m in the market for a low mileage, excellent condition T4R between the years of 1996-2001 (3rd gen from my research) that someone’s grandma or grandpa has as a local daily driver. Not having this car has put a hold on my career. I have been actively searching for over 3 months. I’m willing to pay any reasonable price, even a little over market value if the cars in that good. So here’s what I’m looking for and if anyone’s grandparents are in need it cash or are ready to move on to a newer car please make a connection and reply.

This may seem like a lot but every car I’ve owned, I’ve keep in excellent condition and believe others have the same pride in their vehicles as I, so it’s not to far fetched... or is it?

- Clean carfax
- mileage of 100K or under
- 4x4 (opened to 2x4 but not preferred)
- 1 to 2 owners
- service report/records
- body is excellent condition
- engine in excellent condition (meaning everything works)
- suspension in excellent condition
- interior in good condition
- tires in good condition
- all windows and doors operate as they should.
- no loud colors like that purple they make or yellow.

Sorry so long reply but any help anyone can give or direction would be greatly appreciated for my career is on pause until I get a reliable 3rd Gen T4R

Under 100K will be very tough, although they do exist. Most of them seem to get snapped up by these guys - 4Runner ? Davis Autosports.

Most of the ones that I've seen with less than 100K miles are either rusted-out, odometer has been rolled, or the seller wants a ridiculous amount of money for it.
If you can get the VIN number, run it online and you'd be surprised that you can actually see if partial service history online if it was dealer service. If the seller won't give you the VIN, keep going

On another note, 6 CHP officers showed up at a friend of mine's house this week saying the car that he bought is stolen. Apparently he was a victim of pink slip washing. Seller forged the pink slip and it took the DMV 6 months working with the police to trace the car back to my friend, he's only out $18k

Moral of both stories, do your homework and get a carfax

Be prepared to spend about 10 Gs and look for a long time for a 20 year old truck meeting those criteria. Lower you mileage standards a bit and a lot more hits will pop up.

The mileage will also only tell half the story. There are plenty of trucks out there at 150k with leaking gaskets or cam plugs, brown radiators and rusted frames. A car fax will give you a better picture of the trucks history.
