What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I have used rabbitgoo window film for my business and applied the same blackout tint to the quarter panels. Great addition esp when camping or napping in the back at work lol! it blocks all light!

Swapped out the bent and dented to heck original bumper for another one I got from a salvage yard. Pics later today.

Repaired my rear window defroster, the tabs on the glass had come off; a few years ago, before I owned it. Bought it 2 1/2 years ago.
Removed the window out of the hatch, cleaned the mounting area, cleaned the tabs and bent them back to their original shape. Applied some solder to the tabs, set them in place and put the solder iron tip on it. Once the solder flowed a little, added a tad bit more.
Checked continuity, have a complete circuit. Reinstalled glass in hatch. Now I am ready for the fog, frost, snow and ice.
Also replaced the rear heater lines and installed new hoses for it as well. :car:

Dyed my cowl cover with Forever Black. Painted the wiper arms with SEM Trim Black. Looks much fresher than before.

Well last night I changed my oil and filter, new air filter, cleaned the maf, and drained my transmission pan.

Unfortunately I discovered that someone before me had jacked up the threads on the trans plug and possibly the pan itself! Yay! The plug went back in place but those threads looked pretty poopy.
I may just order a new pan and plug because I've been wanting to swap out the trans filter since I'm coming up on 220k. Not 100% sure what to do, to be honest...

Today I flushed the coolant out with 8 gal of distilled water.
Then I replaced the radiator and added a new cap, new upper and lower hoses, new fan clutch, and also replaced the t-stat with new gasket as well. The old t-stat was at 12 o'clock naturally so I installed at 6 o'clock.

Got a perfect alignment from James at Accurate Alignments in Oceanside with 3.5° of caster. Can’t recommend these guys enough if you’re in the San Diego area

I was amazed at how destroyed almost every rubber bushing was. My truck didn’t ride horrible before but I could feel a few rattles. Now it rides as good as any brand new vehicle. So solid over any sized bump. Took a quick trip down to Baja, home of giant potholes on 60mph roads, and it was flawless. Did a couple long stretches of rocky, whooped out, washboard roads and was loving the new King suspension.

I've been DD'ing my 4runner for the past month every since my Civic got totaled. I've looked at some 5 year old used 'runners and Tacos with the idea of of having 1 newer vehicle instead of an old 'Runner and another DD beater. I just can't find any logic with burying myself with a 15K auto loan and still having to fill a tank twice a week. I don't see where I'd be gaining any ground financially.

installed new radiator, at 181,717 miles today, changed oil, new air filter, went over a few other things. Getting ready to head to South Dakota, then off to Yellowstone. Any tips? Must see's? Any mild trails anyone suggest?

Just took it down to the grocery store with the youngest one today.

However... I bought a 4th gen last week that needs some work and was dirt cheap ($2500CAD) so I've started shopping for parts for the 3rd gen.

Plan is, get the 4th gen reasonable, start DD'ing it for the winter and then have the chance to take the 3rd gen down for longer than a day and do some deep maintenance over the winter.

That's the plan. We all know how plans go, though...

Well mine sat in the garage. My parents just sold it to me for $5, granted I paid for the 2019 registration. Spent the day greater part of 3 hours at Starbucks drooling over pics on the forum and looking for parts and places to take the car.

It’s got some oxidation on the roof so looking to get that taken care of.

Swapped out my center console with that of a 2000 model that I picked up at the local salvage. Grabbed everything including the ebrake handle, mounting bracket's, and console) from the donor. Re-located the switches to the dash as well. Thank you to everyone that posted on this swap, your info made it cake!

Lets see, over the past two weeks:

1. Changed Rear Springs (Moog 81041..man those puppies are tall, 0.75" higher than my 190k miles stockers)
2. New Rear Struts (KYB Monomax KG54317 Gas-a-Just)
3. Rebuilt starter plunger (contact issue, clean and new parts kit)
4. Fixed indicator stalk (contact issue, clean and switch orientation of contacts)
5. Replaced Antenna Mast (this one is still giving me grief..should've gone OEM)
6. New Front coilovers (Moog ST9505L/R.... these were same length as stock, labelled correctly but drivers side is still slightly lower....can't say I'm ecstatic with performance but the old ones were rolling all over the place in corners. Note: I was lazy to build new struts/teardown stock springs from original..quite apart from the dangerous process.....my feeling is I'll be doing these again in a few k miles.)

Still on the to-do list (which is probably all one job, since I'll be taking teh steering knuckle off)

1. Front LBJ (OEM)
2. Front UBJ (OEM)
3. Front Wheel bearings (Koyo)

Once all that is done, four new tires and alignment, then:

4. Valve Cover Gasket and Oil/Filter change
5. Spark Plugs (OEM Denso)

Will have my 2001 driving solidly for another 200k I hope.

8. Replaced warped Rotors / New Brake Pads along with brake flush/new fluid (Power Stop K1236 Front Z23 Evolution Brake Kit, nice upgrade to stopping power. )
9. Rear axle seal (OEM...was a ***** to do and I think it's leaking again!)
10. Rear/Front Diff fluid

Added a 2" body lift over the weekend. Big shout to Fat Pat's Body Lifts. Instructions were easy and components were great quality.
