Played the annoying remove-the-super-hard-and-brittle-o-ring from the engine oil cooler game. Half of it stayed on the block. Sealing since 12/1995, hope the next one fares as well...

Doing the piddly stuff that's harder to get to before the heads go back on.

Fin ally took care of my sagging worn out suspention and installed a Rough Country 3 inch lift kit and new quick struts on the front. Here is a before shot and an after shot.

and between that, the leaves, tiling the bathroom, and more snow and freezing temps this coming week......

Oil cooler should go back on today, gotta compress the timing belt tensioner and finish cleaning up the block, the the heads are ready to go back on. After that it's all Give A Mouse A Cookie- one thing should nicely follow the other in reasonably short order.

I'm supposed to be out there mowing and cleaning up leaves right now but needed more coffee- been doing stuffs since 4 am. Heh, maybe I should get some lunch before the fambly notices my absence...

I would think the snow would be an encumbrance to getting those leaves up.

Being from the heat loving South I don't do car repair under 60f unless it is an emergency. Too much of a cold weather wimp.

Switched over to winter tires and wheels, woke up to near zero wind chill this morning!

Sun came out yesterday and melted most of the snow- that's when I took the oil cooler off and brought it inside to clean it up because brrrrrr 38 degrees!
Got a lot of leaves up today from ours and our neighbor's houses. Lawn mowed too. Ton of leaves still up in the trees.
Tiles were measured and marked and the husband cut them so they're ready to go up this evening if we can keep going.
Finished dealing with the rock that used to be a gasket and reinstalled the oil cooler and new hoses,

plus looked at the t-belt tensioner- looks like I'll be able to use my tensioner tool with the lower tc cover installed and won't have to pull the tensioner off to set it.

I am very close to putting the heads back on.
Also, I need to make dinner.

Can't say much here though, I'm debating if I should swap my O2 in 50*F

45 today.....I'm with you two- gimme a nice warm dry day to work on the truck every time please.

You're kinda in the south. Weird fall we're having. Most of the leaves still in the trees--gonna be a cold raking season.

60f here. Just not fun when over 40 in age to work on metal. That said, I changed a tire once when it was 101f, 130f on the newly paved parking lot and the asphalt hadn’t hardened and my heels dug into the parking lot hardtop about 6 inches. This was in the 90s, back in the days long before portable impacts. Still rather have the heat than the cold.:biggrin1:

Should have pulled my exhaust manifold to change the oil cooler hoses and gasket.:banana:

having changed those hoses before- this way was a whole lot easier. You know, other than the taking the almost everything off to get to it.


2" of snow forecast for tomorrow, enough to keep me from moving forward. Figures, normally it almost never snows this time of year.

I was outside sweating in 80*F+ weather yesterday. At least it was a dry heat (<10% humidity). :bounce:

Built a new headlight harness out of an extra rigid harness leading around and powered my Blue Sea fuse block finally.

Changed the factory Starter. PITA.

Replaced the rear stabilizer end link and diff drop kit.

I replaced the sunroof assembly on my 98. I highly recommend either sourcing a good one from a junkyard or buying a bunch of new parts (cables, sliding mechanisms, and other plastic bits). Trying to just grease the parts isnt a good idea.

Some small stuff and beginning of new suspension stuff:

Air filter, greased the drive shaft, replaced leaking thermostat, new red coolant, teflon tape on a leaky transmission hose, rotated tires and installed new lower ball joints. Feels good to have the new lbjs installed, wasn't sure of the age of the old ones but was told it was time. Hoping to do new struts and shocks in the spring.
