I am, with help from my guys. We do this to Land Rover Defenders all the time luckily. I own East Coast Rover in Maine. We don't need to swap the entire harness, just make some mods to it. Luckily we have a completely rusted out 5 speed 4Runner to get all the little parts from.

I tried to start a build thread on it, but I guess I am too new to the forum.

I got in a trail and threw it in 4x4 low and hit the locker button (I think the first time I have ever done this) and it had the RR Locker light on the dash, but it was blinking, is this normal or is it supposed to be on all the time like a check engine light?

Blinking means it's trying to engage. Solid means it is engaged. If you haven't used it in a long time you'll probably have to go do figure 8's in a dirt lot while trying to engage the rear locker for it to engage. The rear locker actuator and multimode transfer case actuator do best with exercise every couple weeks.

oil change, lube, now good till spring
winter tire change over.
went with blizzaks. was real impressed last year how my sons taco and his wife's ford f250 did with them when I came to visit last January. My studded tires did not make the trip up ( no room when I moved up last spring)) so got these. Very impressed . We already have icy roads and my KO2's were sliding around. KO2's nice in snow, suck on ice, in my opinion of driving with them for 3 years now in the mountains when I was in lower 48.. We live in the hills above Fairbanks ( my son and family in 4th year here) and since switching to blizzaks, my son has only had to chain up one time. We are about 700 feet higher than fairbanks

Replaced this little bastard lastnight with an OEM one. Don't buy auto parts store versions, they only last like 2 months :tsk:

heater control valve, they get brittle with age.
the heater hoses in engine compartment are about the only originals left in there.on mine,..others replaced preventative. this summer going to do the hoses and valve, don't want to touch with out a new valve on hand, like I said, they can be brittle

The do get brittle with age. My first some lasted me like 14 years. Cracked going up a huge hill. Had to get a parts store one for temporary quick fix. Ended up leaving it, and it cracked at the housing around a year later. Needed another relatively quickly and bought another parts store one and it started slow leaking after a couple months. Said, to hell with this, and just bought another OEM one while I had the chance.

What symptoms does this part failure exhibit?

Mine is 18 years old and might be nice to know what to look for.

The do get brittle with age. My first some lasted me like 14 years. Cracked going up a huge hill. Had to get a parts store one for temporary quick fix. Ended up leaving it, and it cracked at the housing around a year later. Needed another relatively quickly and bought another parts store one and it started slow leaking after a couple months. Hee, hee, hee! I replaced mine with a $20 Four Seasons item about 15 months ago. Still working fine. I was estimating it to last about 5 yrs. :bluejump:

if any warning sign it will be some mild seepage near a hose, then break from vibration, from everything I have read. it will break/crumble when you touch it...so no touchy

Did the diff breather mod... figured it was smart to replace the original vent valve after replacing a leaking axle seal (and all that other stuff!) routed new one up to the tail light cavity.

Word to others... the original valve “jiggled” as it should and I would have thought it was still ok, but when I loosened it, heard a hiss from the vacuum built up inside the axle housing.
