What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I used my 4Runner to clear a Camry from an intersection...involuntarily.
Dude in front of me was on his phone in rush hour traffic. I beeped at the first green light he tried to sit through. At the second, he got offended and slammed the brakes to a full stop in the middle of the intersection. We all know how impressive 4Runner brakes are...So with front brakes locked, I slid into the Camry. Neither of us were going fast, so damage was minimzed. He has a nice scuff in the shape of the cutout in my fatlip bumper. My bumper got pushed up and in on the passenger side in addition to crushing the plastic under the fog.
I just hope the frame horn is still straight.
Going to research how a plate bumper would hold up to a similar incident today. May be breaking out the wallet and welder this weekend.

I'd bet a plate wouldn't have received any damage, short of some paint scuffs!

A flying doe (up out of a sunken meadow, over a line of scrub) on a narrow, twisty, slow bit of road bounced off the driver's side. Broke the mirror glass and the driver's window. Teeny dent in the driver's front door a person might not even notice, a small scoop (big hand size) in the rear fender just in front of the side of the tail light. Glass showered everywhere in the interior.
We claim that's a clean getaway. Taped it up and continued on the 112 mile drive (one way) to get supplies and grub.
Won't fix the small dents, ordered glass.
Meh.

Just changed the mast in ours. Lost to the tree branch gods.........
took off my full rack and installed my Yakima space master cargo box,( for skis) ordered oil and trans pan heaters, then last night went to a ski swap and picked up new to me xcountry skis, carbon fiber poles and a nice boot bag

Frugal Heater repair - extra socks now
youngest boy (newly minted driver) drives down his coolant and overheats - turns out to be tiny hole in one of the lines going to the rear heater --
a couple of plumbing fittings to eliminate the flow up near the firewall - until he can save up for new lines or find some on a junker - and no problem.
anyone in the back will have to wear an extra layer now.
Note to anyone with slight frame corrosion - might be a spot to check and be proactive on - wish I had been - especially when he called at 11 at night with temp in the red!

Put in a new reverse light switch in the tranny, now I have my reverse lights back. I’d say it was a good run with the original one at about 360k!

Fixed my dash clock after nearly 2 years of ownership.
No pics, so it didn't happen. But I replaced the headlights on my '99. They are the later version - clear glass, shaped reflector. My passenger light was Toyota, but the reflector was dull instead of shiny silver, and had peeling silver stuff up front (where they tried to paint the glass to match the reflector). And the drive's side light was a repro - my car apparently got hit in that corner at some point before I bought it.
I found a couple of super spiffy late style lights on a 4Runner in a junkyard a few weeks ago, finally got around to spending the 15 minutes to slap them on.
