Today I decided to upgrade my jack. went from an Autozone Duralast 3 ton jack (up to 20") to a Harbor Freight Daytona 3 ton Low Profile Jack (up to 24.5")

what is the point of a low profile jack for a 4runner? even at stock height my main jack was almost maxed out when the tire was an inch or two off the ground. since ive installed my 3" lift and 33s, i have to use a large piece of wood sandwiched in between the frame and the jack to get it high enough to get my tires off the ground. luckily the jackstands i have are tall enough, but theyre just about maxed out as well.

Most people own more than 1 vehicle.... It's the "universal fit" option. You're not going to be lifting a low car with a "standard" jack unless you're driving up on something first, so why not buy once for all possible needs?

Oddly enough, the Low Profile jack actually goes higher than the regular Daytona Jack. 1.5 full inches higher i think. I un-boxed both of them in the store and jacked them up next to each other just to be sure.

I'm on a 3" lift with 33's and this jack gets the front wheels off the ground about 2" or so. definitely worth it for me.

yes i am; and a standard jack is all i have used over the years. i have built a couple of 'slammed' cars in the past, this being my last one before i bought my 4runner:

the trick being a 'ramp' of 2 2x4s cut at a 45 degree angle and staggered. when i tried a low profile jack at a friends house, it wouldn't fit without the same ramps. when i was looking at jacks 10 years ago i believe the low profile jacks i had didnt have the load capacity or the height the regular jacks did (i dont remember which it was). glad to see i will have better options once i am in the market for one.

wow, i looked breifly on HF's site until i couldnt tell what was what and it looks like you are correct. its the long reach model (which makes sense since the arm is longer). as stated above, when i was looking for jacks 10ish years ago, the low profile ones either didnt have a great weight load or get that high in the air. i dont remember which one. glad to see this has changed.

Rear end repair

What I did today. Dropped it off at a buddy's shop to take care of rear end noise.
Pinion bearing at 342,000 miles. Been roaring for a while. Ring and pinion look good. Getting off light.

Does that USB plug below the unit work just like ones in newer cars? Assuming it's plugged into the Kenwood unit.

I did a very similar install when I put in my new radio, except I put mine where the old cigarette lighter is so I still have the lower power ports. It's basically a USB extension, so that's where I plug mine in for Android Auto. It actually looks better integrated than it does in my ZR2.

Those low profile long jacks are not enough for slammed vehicles. My old lancer was slammed with about 3inchs from bumper to ground. Only way to get a jack of any size under my ride was ramping up 2x4s.

I even had to cut notches out of my frame so the CV axles wouldn't hit the frame.

I was flush and low. And minimal camber. It was clean....but stupid in hindsight. Lol zero function only form.

Edit: read that quote again but yeah the low profile jacks do work for both. I read it as someone saying s low profile jack does work for lowered cars on their own lol my bad

I'm looking at a Front bumper on ebay, I suppose they have the rears too. Yup, your choice of just the chrome center trim cap (if it's just cosmetic) all the way up to the entire thing, sides and all. It's WAY lower quality than OEM, but the price is reasonable and it's shipped to your door. I feel your pain and angst on the junk yard route, even in Georgia I'm looking at a Minimum of 3 hours driving just to get to/from the Closest that has a 4runner. Too expensive for me.

Not sure about the later bumpers but i bought this one for my 96 when it was on sale. Probably not the cheapest or most OE option but fit good and came well packed and they have full bumper options as well.
Couldnt for the life of me find one local in decent condition but this was a good option. It was meant to be temporary but i decided to keep it because i like the half bumper look and im not spending plate bumper money anytime soon.

Yes, plugged directly into the USB cable on the back of the unit, so it charges the phone and connects the CarPlay (and Android auto I assume). I preferred that over having a cable dangling around in the glove or center console.

I chose 1 of the 2 power accessories instead of the cigarette lighter, not because I'm a smoker but because I very rarely use the second power accessory, and so I could still light stuff on fire. :flamethrwoer2:

Shortly after painted my 5 star OEMS I got a maaaajjjjooor hookup. I got this brand new in boxes Boyd Coddington 17x9 w/ Toyo Open Country radials 285/70r/17 with 60% tread left. All for FREE. My cousin called me and said meet me at the tire shop I’m getting new tires and you can have my Boyd’s that have been sitting in my garage for 2 years. I never got up so quick to the tire shop I went haha. So stoked looks so much better and fills in the fender flares!

clean install - looks great!- I suffer the same antenna issue - unlike you (where I guess the signal prompt does not exist with the new HU) however I cannot figure out how to make my antenna go up ONLY when I want radio on my aftermarket Kenwood Excelon KDC X998. Forum search continues.

Thanks! Bummer, with the dedicated antenna control wire on yours I would have assumed it would just work!

on the 4th day of Christmas my 4 runner gave to me...

going to work yesterday - engine started knocking hambone like crazy - only under acceleration - got out idled fine but exhaust stunk - no engine light - prior to that no issues - went on to work. Leave work and CEL is ON.

get home and code thrown - was P0304 from the blue driver reader.

put in new plugs - no change to code. Before changing wires, decide to swap the modules and the one thats NOT the possible bad one, breaks apart in my hand. Sort of pulls away from the boot and all sort of crud and corrosion there.

Great!! :rant:go buy new Denso module.

Now with that I get P0304 + now P0300. Uh Oh.

get new wire set - install -

no codes! less than 2 hours including three trips to advance auto and about $150. No Christmas for Dad.:moping:

Yes 3” and I got rubbing no doubt. No much but going down driveways or up driveways and turning I would hit the plastic liner, I just trimmed the liner and was golden
