Jordan, what size/thickness foam are you using for this?

I used this 5/8" thick foam: Amazon.com: Uni Filter BF1 12" X 16" X 5/8" 65-PPI Green Fine Foam: Automotive

Also, my Blackstone oil reports show less-than-average silicon content in the oil so the air filtration is top notch as intended.

Any engineer would have to get excited about that :whoo:

nice idea, I drive lots of dirt roads in summer including at least 3 times just up to the yukon and the artic circle and back...some days so dusty you cant see the rigs in front of you unless you back up for a half mile or so... as it is I blow it off after every trip, but this would be one more layer of protection

Thanks Jordan, added to my cart . I saw that post on your thread, but (unless I missed it) it didn't specify the size, so this is perfect.

The normal valve cover job at 225k... valve covers, spark tubes, half moons, cam seals, plenum, throttle body, changed out the wires and cleaned the MAF...you know a days work:dancin:


Actually quick question. I know I need to retorque my VCs in 500 miles. But do you still reuse the metal plenum and throttle boy gaskets since those were replaced today but will need to be removed to retorque all VC bolts? Just curious...

I didn't retorque my VC bolts after I ré did the gaskets and they are pretty snug still after 4 years. I would just reuse the metal gaskets if I were you, they are 2 layered metal.

I haven’t rechecked the torque valve on my VC bolts in a decade and there hasn’t been one leak in that time. :snacker:

My buddy Ed bailed my ass out today attempting 3” Toytec coilover installation. Not a one man job in my opinion. 1” body lift? Yes. Coilovers? Nope!

Also installed 17x10” -18 offset With 285 KM3.

Almost 6 years into my ownership, and I just realized that the earlier 3rd gens (1996-2000) received a fuel cap holder. For the 2001-2002 models, Toyota omitted it unfortunately. It always made me feel crappy when I had to lay the cap on the body when filling up.

I got in touch with DeathCougar and he was able to supply an original painted IJM fuel door off a 2000. It was important that it was original paint, as I didn't want to introduce repainted parts on my original IJM paint. Paint shades will most certainly be off.
A huge effort for a small gain, but it follows along with my 'restomod' theme. Thanks to DeathCougar for helping.

Took the opportunity to fluid film the bolts and hinge. Oh, and if anyone is curious, the 2001-2002 fuel cap does fit perfectly on the holder.

Great idea! It's been over a year and a half since I sold my '98 T4R and bought the '02 and I still occasionally try to put the cap on the non-existent holder when I fill up. I may have to see if [MENTION=78895]DeathCougar[/MENTION] has another fuel door with cap holder.

Not so worried about the original paint color as it would give me a chance to practice my painting skills and also to see how well the touch-up paint I got from Automotive Touchup matches.

Replaced starter, both cv axles, fuel filter, spark plugs
Installed Bilstein 5100's and OME coils front and rear
changed all interior lights to LED
Removed all carpet and herculined the floorboards
