Read that the 881s are a hair stiffer, wanted to go for more comfort. The springs I got were about $220 each. Sure you might save a couple hundred bucks, but I justify it by saying that's just 4 tanks of gas.

Ah, got it. A hair less stiff and progressive rate, so that makes sense to me!

I dropped the tow hitch to sand and repaint. My 02 is in amazing condition. We have owned it for the 18 years, serviced it religiously at the same shop and it is bone stock.

It has a few dings acquired over the years so I am systematically working them out and just got permission to do some mods.

Coated the inside of the frame with Eastwood internal frame coating. In the fall I plan to spray some Fluid Film inside the frame also for extra protection.

Just sprayed with the can then let dry overnight, it was pretty easy however I’m curious to see how it will hold up over the chrome. I sanded and primed really well. That part took longest.

Masked the chrome off on my front grill and painted the black accents with a fresh coat of semi gloss black to get rid of the 19 years of road rash.
The grill looks brand new now

Not hard at all, took about an hour to remove all the cladding. I didn't do it the way other tutorials recommended (removing all the interior panels), I just yanked it all off. That does damage more clips, but clips are cheap and time is money - and removing all the interior trim risks damaging other things.

This leaves the body with over 60 holes though, so you'd have to be ready for a full repaint if you want to leave the cladding off and patch the holes.

I'll be writing up a tutorial on this project once I get everything finished.

If you have gone that far might as well reseal the oil pan and replace the rear main......:cheers:

I replaced my PCV valve, grommet, and hose today. In doing so, I realized that the PCV hose and the hose connecting the upper plenum to the intake had been cross connected which explained the oil in my intake I was noticing. While working on the PCV valve, I noticed that I have some insulation that has come off of what I believe is my injector wiring. See picture below. Can anyone confirm that is the injector wiring, and assuming it is, does anyone have an idea of how much of a pain that is to fix?

Took it for a drive down some dirt roads in AZ after getting an alignment. Just installed 5100s all around with 906s in the rear and stock 99 talks on the 2nd perch. Future will be bigger tires and maybe coil spacers in the rear. Rides like a dream after getting the “made in Mexico” unbranded struts off the front!
