What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

There wouldn't happen to be a way to connect an 01-04 Taco radio to our 4runners, would there? I assume not as we use one plug and two antennas, whereas the Taco used two plugs but one antenna, but thought I'd ask before I went ahead and sold it
Tried changing mine out last night hoping to complete my amber interior but found out it wouldn't fit

No, we do not. We have two PORTS, and one plug. The Taco radio has three, of which two are used when the stereo is installed. The free spot is the same connector between both units (and on opposing sides).

Keyfob didnt work.


This took a few days, and was a bit of a struggle.


I ordered a keyfob from amazon for my 2000 4runner. When It arrived I tried to program it, and it did not work no matter how hard I tried. I checked the forums and after some trial and error figured out my rear hatch wiring was broken.

I had two broken wires in the hatch. I fixed them, and I was able to program my keyfob.

I then went and purchased a soldering iron and fixed the wires permanently. The open/close sensor is the door latch itself. Mine is gummy so the door doesnt always activate the light. I will replace that later.

Ah. The way you worded it confused me. I thought you were saying we had a single antenna port. Like the other poster said the factory amp has 2 plugs going into it and only the one coming out to head unit. Try what he said

I actually don't have the factory Tacoma plugs, if that's what you mean, but if someone here knows where to get one to try I'm all ears

I do not mean that. The factory single plug should lead you back to a small box/amplifier bolted back behind the radio opening. If you remove that and unplug it, there will be two factory plugs back there. When you install an aftermarket radio like most people here have, you need to remove and discard that amp to plug in the harness.

Oooh, so you mean remove the amp itself and check the connections behind that? That makes more sense if so, and after watching this video it doesn't look like they have one, so might be worth trying!
On a side note I never notice how nice the Taco dash is - I looove those white gauges. Wish we had them

Where did you get those mudflaps??

Oreilys...found online on amazon then purchased at oreilys because I didn’t wanna wait for them to ship lol. They are made by RoadSport and the part # 6416. Just drilled holes and used the factory screws from the running boards and mudflaps

That may be what you need to do to get it done. When I replaced my radio, I also got an antenna plug adapter to combine the antennas. I used this one, but since I did it about 7 years ago, it doesn't appear to be available from them Amazon.com: Antenna Y Adapter 1 Plug to 2 Jacks Motorola Type: Home Audio & Theater

Finally got around to cleaning up the engine bay! This has been irritating me for quite a while. It had definitely been several years since it was cleaned. There was so much grime on the engine I was afraid I was going to uncover a leak, but it's solid as a rock.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this a common mod or are you the pioneer? These seats are not too wide? Mounting rails need much modding?

Not sure if anyone has done this particular seat swap, I removed the (foot) brackets off my stock seats and welded those to the subaru seat rails.

The seats aren't too wide and the rails are within 1/4" width of the 4runner rails. It's easy to power them as well. I tied mine into an aux fuse block under the seat.

Today my local alignment guy installed new tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, links, bushings, shocks and springs.

New tires and newer wheels went on Monday.
