What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Messed around with my transmission support bracket for the 4wd conversion. Seems to be no way around me having to cut the 2wd horns off. Their placement is in the way, and not usable for easily adapting to the new trans bracket. I might just have to use the Trail Gear skid-plate after all. Drilling 6 holes in the frame won't be fun or easy, but I just don't trust my welding skills and not willing to pay a welder for a house-call. I can't even test fit the skid plate with the horns in place. Looks like it's going to take the leap of going all in.

Replaced the driver rear bumper extension that came with the car. Just bought it on Saturday so first official wrench on the truck...first of many to come I'm sure.

Can you give any more details? Specifics about your 4runner, whether this is a new development and if there were any symptoms evident before you noticed that things were burnt, a more clear description of what is burnt, maybe some pictures?

Do modern cars use fusible links? That's where I would start looking if so, their whole purpose is to burn out from a short or what-have-you so your main harness/car doesn't catch fire

It's a full SoloMotorsports front end. LT kit, fabricated spindles, heim steering. It's their newer version that uses Dana 44 hubs. Then 2.5" King coilovers and 3 tube bypass shocks with 2" bumps.

I had to tub a little bit of the cab to fit 35s, so the plastic inner fender won't fit any more. I had to paint from where I did the cutting and welding anyway so I decided to spray the entire inner fender with Raptor Liner. Matches what I already have on the lower half of the body and around the wheel wells.

Well no wonder I didn't recognize it! I hadn't even heard of that kit before. Looks absolutely bulletproof!

Oh, so that is Raptor liner. I've been deciding what to do with inner fender when I rebuild my suspension. Looks good!

Im having a hard time uploading photos maybe need to use a computer. I recently bought the 4 runner 3 windows didnt work. I figured it was regulators or window switches that was not the case everything tested out to be fine. After hours and hours of troubleshooting I realized the drivers door was not grounded. Traced the white wire with black stripe from the master switch in drivers door. The white and black wire was broken in the door hinge. I replaced the wire everything started working great. I figured problem solved put everything back together. Few hours later the master switch started blowing smoke. The wire i replaced that was broken (wht/blk) was scorched insulation burnt off. Master switch melted and the connector under dash melted. When investigating that i notice the connector which sends wiring to the rear of the vehicle was also burnt. I think its the primarily for the window in the back hatch. Not sure if that connector was burnt prior to the window switch issue or not.

At lunch I hit those 3 little screws on the fog lamp housing with PB and they came right out after work. I don't really remember to use fog lights but it bugged me that only 1 worked, so I tossed in a pair of Hella Xtreme Yellows that were about $13 a pair. Anyone who's done this will wonder why Toyota over-engineered that bulb retainer/spring clip! What a little PITA! Anyway, no rust under the truck makes things easy, so I can't really complain. Is the "WD40 Frame treatment" just what it sounds like?

Just a a heads up, those bulbs get VERY HOT and do not last long. I did these bulbs a couple times already.

That's an unusual amount of dirt/mud under the door sill. The photo of the male end is a little blurry. Is there any corrosion present on any of the harnesses? I fear you might have some water damage. There's definitely a short somewhere. Time to break out a toothbrush and electronic contact cleaner and go to work on those harnesses.

252k on the odo. I cleaned the TB today. Installed NGK wires and replaced spark plugs. I also replaced the engine filter. A good buddy came over and we banged it out. I need his impact gun and bought him dinner. 10/10.

Replaced the blower motor and resistor as my AC was acting up last week.
The new blower is much quieter as the old one was original and sounded like a card in bike spokes.
Also replaced the steering rack and sway bar bushings as my old ones were shot and the steering had a ton of slop.
It’s fun to work on this old car!!!
