WELL DONE! That is a fantastic job. It's nice that that 4runner is getting the love that it deserves. That color is pretty rare, and very nice.

Thanks for the kind words. You are right that this color is rare. I looked all over the country for a door that was already painted with it. I had no luck at all. The paint is pretty oxidized on the hood and the roof from its early life in Wyoming, so I am thinking that a complete repaint is going to occur sometime fairly soon.

I received the tone ring puller adapter I ordered from Dwayne, also known as "Donald the Bonald" on eBay. He is the manufacturer of an excellent axle bearing puller tool for Toyota trucks and SUVs, that he makes right there in Omaha, Nebraska the good old USA. My 4runner's got nearly 290k miles and the rear axle oil seals are leaking. It wouldn't make any sense to go in there to do the seals without also replacing the bearings. So I've got some nice Japanese OEM rear axle service kits coming from Marlin Crawler. And new brake shoes are coming from Rock Auto. The axle puller tool that I will be using with my harbor freight hydraulic press is one that I made myself. It looks like Dwayne's adapter is going to work perfectly with my puller tool.

Also replaced the original vent with the '01-02 version with an intact vent flap and a provision for a harness pass-through if I ever need one (I just taped it up for now) (PN 62940-35020):

This looks great with the flares and cladding color matched. Have any more pictures or a build thread somewhere?

Front fender well rehab.

Working on the front fender well. Got the rear ones done now it is time to tackle the fronts. Look at the state of this.

Wow. OK got some work to do. I have a set of OME 880's and Bilstein 5100's that are going in so that coil over is trash. I have some new JBA UCA's on the way so those stock ones can hit the garbage can too! I am doing the Tundra brake upgrade so new rotors and big calipers are going in! Putting in all new attachment hardware for the fender well. It always breaks on old Yota's. I find these kits to be very handy working on my 3 old runners.

Thank you - they are Hella fog lights (Amazon.com: HELLA 008284801 FF75 Series Clear 12V/55W H7 Halogen Fog Lamp Kit: Automotive), which I upgraded to H1 HID bulbs. Bright as heck. I reinstalled them on the Addicted bumper:

It looks like you've done a lot of work to yours. My build is kinda lame compared to a lot of builds here, but I like reading them no matter how big or small the project is. Cool seeing people continue to clean these rigs up.

I spent two years obsessing over what color to paint my faded cladding. And over that time I found myself really liking the Sport models, which have the body-color cladding. So I went that route, and am very happy with it.

I am contemplating putting together a build thread, though most of it would be in retrospect at this point. But it would be nice having all my mods in one place. Just need to find the time!

Hey guys,

I am a long time reader, first time poster. I would like to post the upgrades I am about to do on my 99 Limited, and hopefully help out the community in the process.

Here is what I am doing.

- Costal offroad high clearance front bumper with grille guard.
- Costal offroad high clearance rear bumper with dual swing out.
- Smitty built 9.5k Gen 2 winch

- Fox 2.5 remote resi w/ DSC in the front. they dont make them for a 4runner so I'll be using 1st gen Tacoma as a platform.
- Fox 2.5 Remote resi w/ DSC in the rear. They dont make these either so I will be using a 2003 4runner as the platform.
- LC 80 rear coils, waiting on bumper completion to get the proper length/spring rate.
- Icon UCA's with Deltajoints.

As of right now Sept/2020 the front and rear bumper are being wielded, and powder coated. Once they are installed I will post more pictures. Hopefully someone finds all of this useful, and can learn from what I am about to make a mess out of.

Changed out the fuel filter with OEM. Went to swap my A/F sensor only to find the nuts are rusted to non-existant. So much like [MENTION=164808]Ron Burgandy[/MENTION] I will soon be dealing with a new catylitic converter...And likely doing an entire exhaust system.

Done over last week...

Installed ditch lights, xbulls on my roof rack, addicted off-road rear tube bumper!! Did my own mounting setup for the Xbull tracks. Also have front addicted tube bumper installed, with kc lights and badlands 12000 winch. Need to do some cleaning up before I post front pics.

Tried everything out on the local off-road park Vandyz in MO. Everything worked out really great! Addicted off-road is solid stuff!

I switched over from the standard Toyota factory six spoke 4runner wheels to some 16 x 8 Black Daytona steelies. The black wheels are a huge boost for the appearance of the vehicle. They make the black SR5 fender flares look perfect. It also helps my new tires are an inch taller. 265 75 16 versus the old 265 70 16. A problem that I ran into though is that the new wheels make contact with the front brake caliper. I can still turn the wheels by hand but there's a point on the caliper that just barely scrapes the spokes of the wheel. It is so minimal that I'm sure I could fix it with a grinder less than a minute. I am also thinking about making the Tundra brake upgrade as soon as I can get my hands on some calipers and rotors. I think that might be a bigger problem. I think the aluminum five spoke wheels that came as an option on later 4runners and Tacoma's will clear the tundra caliper. I thought they might look pretty good too, and then I saw this picture and I was sure of it. I can get these wheels almost for free around here because many of them have peeling paint and curb rash. All that stuff can be fixed if you're going to paint the wheels as I intend to.

You do not see that many rear bumpers for Toyotas, at least I haven’t. I’d sure like to see the one you’re talking about. The one that 4x4labs.com makes for the first generation 4runner is one that I really like.

I replaced spark plugs and an ABS sensor on the front wheel.

I also replaced the instrument panel and removed the neutral safety switch trying to solve an issue with the gear indicator lights. I think there is a short in the harness. I haven’t figured this one out yet.
