What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

From the pic it shows that Caster and SAI (Steering Axis Inclination) are both out of spec on the left side. It doesn't effect tire wear unless drastically out of spec but will cause you to have both hands on the wheel to make the truck go straight.
 
My truck was having the roar at 35ish miles per hour.

So, I did an ECGS Bushing, and new drivers side CV Axle.



The roar seems to be gone... :high5:

Let see if it stays gone!

Tranny and transfer case probably toast.
Drain your tcase fluid see what it looks like
Same with the tranny.

Drain both the fluids, drop the tranny pan. Unfortunately I have a feeling that's where you'll find the gear's teeth.
Then make her contribute all she can to a new, fresh tranny and transfer. :director:

In regards where to post, this is about as good a place as any - when you're a new member you can't make a thread yourself until you've posted 10 times, but this thread is obviously very frequently updated and checked upon

Well that's wonderful! I'm heading out to my garage now to make a better assessment of the damage, but you basically confirmed my fears. Believe me, she will be contributing greatly to the new tranny, and it'll be the last time I let her use my runner!! Kids... Gotta love them.

By the way, I'm so glad I've found this forum. Very valuable resource!

If you don't find any fragments/material and the fluid looks good, it might be worth posting around and making a thread for yourself since not everybody comes through this one. Last I checked our Aisin trannys can be had for relatively cheap (or at least less than expected) so you might be in luck. Replacing them isn't particularly complex, just very tedious and time consuming, which is why shops charge out the ass to do it for you. Not sure whats the deal on transfer cases though, but I bet Timmy the Toolman would have an idea.

How do you like the JBA arms? Was about to pull the trigger on them, heard good things but kinda curious how much extra articulation they actually offer. I'm somewhat disappointed in the amount of droop the TRD lift gives, but that's IFS for you
Most importantly, noticed any squeaking? My current (OEM) UCAs are squeaking and driving me nuts.
 
[MENTION=5345]habanero[/MENTION] Thanks for the reminder about stocker no locker. I had completely forgot about those events. I was letting her drive around in all wheel drive all day. I think she would love an event like that! Two 4runners have crossed our mind but right now she want 4 wheelers. I think with more drive time I could get my 2nd 4runner! Oops I mean her a 4runner! Thanks for the props on letting her drive! Happy wife happy life!
 
Did an oil change (305k). Noticed my passenger side front diff seal is leaking :whipping2 but I just changed it. It seems like my remanufactured CV axle can move in-out 1/4" on the diff side. Any ideas??
 
Bikeric - a little movement on the outer part is normal. If the whole thing is moving maybe it isn't seated in the diff correctly?
