What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Opened the back hatch, put my ice scraper/snow brush in back, closed the hatch. Gettin' ready for a Colorado winter!
Posted a couple days ago about many wires being broke in rear hatch interchange area. Had 6 broken wires and 4 that were bare...:banana: Rear defrost, plate lights, 3rd brake light and wiper were non functional yo.
Glad to say after today we are back to fri-kin-mint. I soldered all 6 breaks then shrink tubed them. Just gave the worn ones a wrap or 2 of tape and good to go. I had to remove the back plastic trim around the rear light. That gave me access to the underside of the wire loom. I pulled out a holding clip and stripped back some insulation to give me some wiggle room. Went at it with the strippers, solder gun and shrink tube and it came out great. I work best in tight spaces anyway...:boink:
The clip inside was a total PITA to get out. I scratched the heck out of the paint there. I am working outside in nearly freezing temps so that did not help but a little embarrassed of the damage I did. I normally am way better than that but got impatient. None of it will be seen but you know...other than that I am very happy to have that done!

Who did you go with for the remans? I'm gonna be doing mine soon, was thinking of CVJWent to replace my leaking passenger side front diff seal. Discovered my Reman-CV sealing surface was about 0.2mm smaller in diameter than my stock CV axle. Maybe they put them on a lathe and just turn them down? Anyway, decided to leave the as-new seal in the diff and replace just the CV axle. So far no more leaking!! Dang reman CV axle.... Also noticed my NEW sway bar links have cr*p rubber that's already cracking.
I wonder if anybody has these wires color coded, i only got one thats cracked (not even fully split) and Im very curious to know what it's for. I think it was the light green one

Fan spray pattern washer nozzle upgrade. Tried the 3 hole spray pattern ones from a RAV4 and was just never happy with the pattern. These nozzles come from Honda and are a direct replacement for the factory nozzles. Hardest part is squeezing the clips to get the old ones out, then taking a couple minutes to aim them properly.

I used a Cardone one on mine and it doesn't look like the one in the picture. Looks almost the same as the OEM one.The bottom CV you see in my pictures is a Cardone that came from RockAuto. I can not recommend the brand after my experience. My old stock CV (seen above) is working out just fine.

You know, I've thought countless times how the spray kinda sucks, but it never once crossed my mind to change out the tips. Might give this a go!

For the $20 or so that it cost, and how easy it is since they're a direct fit, it's definitely worth it. I was never really happy with the crappy job the stock nozzles did in the winter with snow and ice on the windshield, these should be immensely better.

Alternator was intermittently charging, and gave me a dead battery while running errands. Grabbed a brush holder from the parts store and even though my old brushes were trashed, it didn’t solve the problem so I grabbed a parts store alternator from O’Reillys. I’ll probably eat the core charge and have my Denso rebuilt locally soon.
I also got a free group 24F Everstart Maxx battery (mine was still under warranty at Walmart for a couple months, $100+ saved there). Also my negative battery post terminal was not tightening all the way so I took the opportunity to upgrade to marine terminals and coated with Noco NCP2. I wire wheeled and painted the battery hold down since the paint was trashed and the metal showing had corrosion build up, and welded a couple pieces of 3/16” plate steel on the hold down brackets since the new battery was narrower than the old one. Same mfr and group size, so it was weird that they made it smaller. Also went from 750 to 700 CCA :noidea:

Really wanted to shake the dust off the blue thing but it's still...really still. Hasn't moved since mid-August. Things are happening, but I haven't gotten finished happening the things.
So, shotgun in the husband's truck. I didn't even get decent pics of any good stuff with my little phone. I'd rather be holding the steering wheel!
These guys did a nice job in their Anthracite truck, always nice to see another 3rd gen out and about...it went right up this slippery wet limestone ledge with little to-do...
It's a good time for the very stockest to the locked and loaded trucks. Just a way for some to get some confidence or shake out some mods, and enjoy the day with other wheelers.
Making breakfast burritos, then working on some wiring on the blue truck today.

Had an altercation with an elk tonight. Windshield and passenger fender are shot, mirror's gone and door needs some help. Hopefully it's not totaled. Could have been much worse, but pretty bummed.
