What did you do with your 4runner today?

Right ? Snow/salt sucks. I seriously wash the damn truck almost every time I drive it. I even get under there and get the whole undercairrage clean, by the time i get home its filthy again. I've been using / abusing the leased Tundra instead cuz it aint mine after 3 years I'll get a new one. You should see how much salt is crusted on that thing, this week I drove over 1000 miles for work.

Winch was delivered today, superwinch 8500 from amazon under 300 bucks with free shipping, sweet. Its already hidden away in the shop.

Hey did you take pics of the install or any issues/tips that may help me ? I'm going to be getting the same bumper in a couple of weeks as long as everything goes as planed and the powedercoat guy doesn't make me wait long. , I'll take pics start to finish for any future Demello owners.

On that note/ anybody have any suggestions on custom powdercoat colors and or textures ? Im going to do some sort of satin black and was wondering if anyone has done the sandpaper type texture . Im concerned about it looking dirty all the time with the texture finish. Also, would a smooth coat with very little texture show flaws/ scratches more ? Would a branch rubbing it scratch it, maybe texture would hide stuff like that ? So many choices.

Powder coat shouldn't scratch from a branch dragging across it, but it happens.

Since you're looking at textured coatings and are worried about scratching, how about Line-x or rhino lining the bumper? That will protect against any scratching or scuffing and it will also completely eliminate the issue of road debris damage.

I considered it, I have seen a smooth rhino liner that looks like it has drops of water on it, and was considering that. I think the rhino line rough texture might fade or look dirty over time so Im not sure if I would want that. Theres a guy around here with a F350 thats completley rhino lined and it looks like shit.

Took the 4Runner out to play in the woods today. Loads of fun and the (sorta) skinny (255) KM2's performed most awesomely in the deep snow. Perfect conditions for them actually; deep heavy snow, heavy rig, skinny tire with big lug tread.

There's a saying: "On a cool, quiet summer night, you can lie down in the middle of a cornfield and hear the corn grow." well there's a New England corollary to that... "On a clear cold, quiet New England winter night, you can lie down in the middle of a parking lot and hear the cars rust..."

My truck is covered with New England salt... totally sucks.


Jeeps and the Titan abused this little obstacle...
to be fair, its actually about a foot and a half drop on the back side of the tree; photo does a poor job of revealing that but the 4Runner walked right over it. :dance:
I was the only Toyota in a sea of Jeeps and a Titan.

completely removed my struts, rear shocks to find out that my coilover shocks i bought, are not for 4runner/FJs. Too small of a top hat and the lower mount isnt long enough. Now hopefully Camburg has top hats and lower mounts to swap them out. Hope it also wont be too hard to do.

Long day to get nothing done. Oh and my VSC/ABS lights are all on. Frick me right?

Got the 4Runner back from the stealership today. Had the left front wheel bearing replaced under my extended warranty. Only had to pay a $100 deductible instead fo $899.37. That was awesome. A month before that I had the entire front wiring harness for the lights replaced due to a melted fog light connector. That was $3,011.66 covered under the extended warranty with a $100 deductible. That was even more awesome.

didnt take any pics of the install but it is pretty straight forward. The hard part for me was getting the factory bumper off and trimming the mud flaps. but once you do that you just bolt the bumper on and its good to go. took me a little over an hour.
