What did you do with your 4runner today?

DAMN! I thought it was bad when my rear end destroyed itself. I think I would do an SAS and put f350 axles on at this point. would probably be cheaper.

Not ready for a SAS since I daily it. Should the repairs go as expected, I should be regeared and locked in the coming months.

I have an entire 8" rear donor axle at my disposal on stock gears; I'll just swap the rear third for now and revisit after everything is back up and verified running

I've ordered all the replacement parts I need except one; need to order a battery and pickup fluids. Drained the battery 100% using power steering/brakes to get it to a place accessible by a tow truck

Installed a color matched grille, rattle canned the center panel, and plasti-dipped the lower center bumper. It took me the entire last weekend to complete with several coats and a heat gun.

I sound proofed by doors and rear a while ago, so I decided to do the entire floor while I installed a new four channel amp. Layers include Dynamat, CCF, and MLV.

Haven't gotten a chance to drive it around, but with the engine on and revving a little in the driveway, it's noticeably quieter

Spent like 5 hours replacing all 4 brakes today. I think the rear calipers might have been replaced once, they looked a lot better than the fronts and the bolts weren't a giant PITA to get off like the fronts were.

Not terrible, but they're going anyway.

My dad has all the tools so I was at his house. He was replacing the front brakes on my sister's '02, which happens to be rocking the Satoshi I made for my '01.

Cool, thanks for the help. After a little research, I found this kit that I can do for nearly the same cost ($350 for calipers, pads, and rotors) and it's powder coated. Not crazy about the red but it'll look sporty :nod:

What kit is this? I'm looking into replacing mine too.

Alignment and tires balanced. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll get my spark plugs in and change the interior bulbs to led.

you see the factory ground point at the front seat bracket mounting hump? its a good place for amp ground, better than using seat bracket to sandwich it together. lets us know how that 4 channel worked out, and the ease of install.

I’m on maybe hour 3 of working on my front brakes. Caliper removal was a cinch. Had to break for date night and get some other materials because the rotors were frozen.

Used the bolt method for the drivers side. The bolt didn’t work on the passenger but a few whacks with a mini sledge hammer did the trick. Rotor almost fell off and took out the finish on my garage floor [emoji23]

Just need to coat the calipers with the ceramic coating and I’ll get her bled and back on the road. Last thing left will be lower / upper control arms and rear sway bar links.

First time poster here! I've had my 4th gen for about 2 months now and have been nothing short of in love with it! I changed the battery a couple days ago and noticed a build up of corrosion and rust in the area around it, so today I spent the day grinding and vacuuming it out, then cleaned with baking soda and water, then put down a layer of rust reformer!

As a bonus, a few days ago I also had a local muffler shop move my tail pipe out behind the rear passenger tire!

Here's to hoping its enough out of the way to stop melting coolers on my hitch mount cargo carrier...
