Pulled the running boards and leftover X-reas plumbing from the side rails to prep for the sliders. (2 days ago)

Hey everyone. I've only been here in passing lately, but since the 4Runner is still 100% stock, I figured it's about time I do something about that:



I just picked up the entire suspension from an '09 FJ 4x4 with only a little surface rust for a mere $50, local find. I've had the Daystar 2.5/1.5 since I replaced my CV axles back in the spring.

I don't do any serious wheeling (nowhere here to do that anyway) but I am in need of new wheels and tires before winter, and I figured this is the perfect opportunity to go bigger, mainly for snow clearance. I go to work regardless of the weather and before most of the plows are out in my area, so I may as well make the most of it!

The current Sport wheels are pretty rough (my only complaint since I bought it this past February) and the tires are starting to rot. So next up will be a complete set of (5) 17" FJ wheels (the machined finish 6-spokes) for a little more tire poke, along with a set of Revo2s. Haven't decided on a size yet, but considering 265/70/17 or maybe a 275.

Hopefully I can find the wheels locally, but I am having limited success. Once I acquire those I will be starting a build thread here. Nothing too crazy (for now.)

Those TRD FJ wheels are all 16" correct? I like those, but they won't clear the brakes on my Sport Edition. I was thinking of these:

I'd also consider the gunmetal version of the Sequoia/Tundra wheels, but those are even harder to find, especially a set of 5.

Almost time to put the winter tires on and they are mounted on my OEM rims that are pretty beat up so...

Plasti dip is a pain to find in my area so I used The new ProGrip stuff that Rust-oleum puts out. Seems to be the same thing. If it lasts the season I will be happy.

took my front spacers off to fix TWO of my studs. FFFUUUUUUU. 4 wheel studs i've snapped. Im beginning to think these lug nuts love snapping studs.
