Calculated mpg for the first time with my new tires...I can't believe my gas milage didn't drop at all even though I added over an inch of tire size over my 255/75r17's.... Someone please tell me if I'm doing this wrong
Uncorrected odometer- 324.4 miles
Took 20.162 gallons to fill up
Bfg long trail (stock size 265/70r16)
O.d. 30.6"
St maxx (275/70r18)
O.d. 33.4"
9.15% difference
Actual miles traveled (324.4x1.0915)=354.08
Actual mpg (354.08/20.162)= 17.56 mpg
Oh and when I put on the new tires I also reset the onboard mpg computer and when I filled up the onboard computer said 17.5... Dead even...

With plasti dip, lay down a bunch of layers, 5 or 6 and it comes off much easier. Even after years of having it on.

Had the new KO2's installed today.
HOLY SHIT! I know my old tires were on their last legs with 114k on them. They wore evenly, had fine grip in the rain, and made it through the Chicago winter just fine.....but seriously. On a scale of 1-10, replacing the worn suspension improved the ride by like a 5 and the tires are a definitive 10. I was still disappointed with how my car handled after just the suspension replacement. It just felt like something was off. The ride was still quite jarring at times.
Immediately I noticed a difference, just pulling out of the parking lot. Unbelievably smooth, a quarter of the road noise, zero highway vibration, and a way more controlled ride. The ride actually drastically improved going from worn C rated tires to the E's. They also don't rub at all!
I'd be lying if I didn't feel a slight power decrease. Unsprung weight went from 45#/tire to 55#. Stock is 38#. It's not noticeable in city driving with the V8 torque.
Unbelievably happy!!! I know my alignment is close but I'm taking it to a fellow member and 4Runner buff to really dial it in.
Moral of the story: replace tires after 5 years regardless of mileage and tread wear.

I'd cry if that was the case, that would be like 12.5 mpg. I'm extremely pleased with 17.5 mpg with that size of tires though

Yep. I get around 12mpg city/hwy. I can get 15-16 on hwy if I keep it around 65mph. I could probably do better but I get pedal happy.
. Hoping I'll get better with my 255 75 bfg mt's once I sell my Destinations or wear them out. Tire rack has them for $137.Speaking of tire size differences...
Did the math for my 275/70/17 mtrs today and discovered they travel 5% further than my previous 265/65/17's did. Meaning that while I thought I was going a relatively safe 78/80 on the highway, I was actually doing 84/85... Which the cops love. Speedohealer here I come...
Just a PSA to anyone who gets larger tires to do the math before you drive so you don't get caught out. =)

My speedometer reads high from the factory. When you're on cruise control, reset the average trip speed meter, and you'll see what I mean. 75 on the speedometer winds up being 71-72 from the computer. My OBD scanner shows the same.

I was just answering your question on what UCA's they were. Never tried them. Wouldn't mind trying them if I had a need/desire to go taller. Looks like the ball joints would be easy to service.
