What did you do with your 4runner today?

So you're saying ruin your alignment and create a potential for your tie rod end to come loose over time instead of undoing 1 bolt that has a cotter pin through it the way you're supposed to when doing coil-over work?

I'm with Jdkilroy. We had a blast installing our lifts together. Universal persuasion devices came in handy!

I don't recall saying that. Just saying there's an easier way than busting the grease boot with a pickle fork or beating on stuff. You do realized the bolts were installed there in the first place. They can be removed, reinstalled and retorqued and if you're worried use threadlocker. It's a much easier way. Try it next time and save the headache and time. Regardless of method, when you lift it, it will need an alignment..

So... because you installed your lift by separating the ball-joint, you feel that you didn't need an alignment?

You can separate the ball joint or take out the two bottom bolts and put them back together without affecting alignment... adding lift (or lowering) coils or a spacer changes the geometry and requires an alignment adjustment regardless of how it was separated.

I've removed and reinstalled the bottom bolts a couple of times without worry of them "coming loose" over time... they hadn't come loose in the 70,000 miles prior to my first suspension upgrade! ;-)

I think that either way is fine, but undoing the bottom bolts is pretty easy and eliminates the risk of damaging the boots on the ball-joints.

I'm thinking of the two bolts on the tie rod itself to adjust the toe. My bad guys haha.

And I'm well aware that a realignment is necessary after lifting, that's why I'm waiting to level my front 5100's cause I can't afford an alignment

When I had my '03 I ordered aftermarket OEM replacement LED taillights. They barely fit and were dim. I returned the aftermarket ones and sucked it up and ordered Toyota genuine OEM taillights and they fit like a glove and were very bright. Totally worth it IMO. I am running aftermarket headlights right now. They fit fine, but I had trouble with the driver side turn signal socket fitting into the housing. So far, after a little over a month no leaks or anything abnormal (knock on wood).

While driving home in my rig in the post Thanksgiving traffic yesterday, I came upon the most hideous and messed up vehicle I have ever seen! It slowed down traffic, as everyone passed it, I could see people in their cars mouthing or thinking what the **** is that???

I have Depot taillights and I like them, they fit pretty nicely

Over the weekend:

Wash, dry, clay, Porter Cable 7424XP plus Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0, Klasse AIO. Didn't have time for the P21S.

Huge improvement over what it was. I would guess about a 80-90% correction on the swirl marks. Some fine scratches removed.
