8000k HID's have less light output than good halogens.

Thanks for the info. I honestly don't know the technicality of it, but what I have seen is my lights is very very bright people always high beam me because it is so bright and I saw OEM halogen on 06+ 4runner and they were not as bright.

Don't take it as a slander either, I used to have 6,000K lights and switched to 5,000 (supposedly the color of the sun) and it's very noticeably brighter IMO (and in the opinion of many people smarter than me)

That's not a cool thing to brag about. People are flashing you because, a-your lights aren't aimed properly or b-theyre put in the wrong housing and are scattering the light places it shouldn't go (in oncoming drivers eyes). Quite hazardous.

Picked up my 4" Trek Light XT's today in Portland Maine. Troy is a cool dude.

Now sitting having dinner and weeping as the Patriots get destroyed. At least I got pizza...

I was not bragging about blinding people I just saying that my lights are bright even though the chart says I has less lumens. My headlights are aimed correctly and are in the right housing. My truck is lifted so when I'm coming against a oncoming traffic it is gonna be brighter even with normal light because the lights are higher. More then half of people here have HID and LED bars which are much brighter then my lights. To each his own and I'm the last person to brag about something.

Haha just can't do it. Gotta paint the whole thing and put the badge on. I really need to paint it since I added chrome 3M strip around the border of the mesh to hide the gap. Can't wait to see it when it's done and on the truck!

Mike why did you put 3M chrome molding around, I know you mentioned to cover gaps was it to noticeable?

I would suggest doing the squirrel finder mod. That allows a straight cutoff on our stock projectors. Also, make sure you aim them lower to compensate for the lift. I did both things and have not had trouble with people flashing me or cops, etc.

Also I did the 3M strip to hide the gap. It wasn't too big but it cleans it up and hides the imperfections along where I bent the aluminum mesh (which turns out to be pretty firm and stiff). Could have taken more pics but was eager to finish it. Once it is painted and completed, I will take pics with the good camera.

I added these today courtesy of Blue Ridge Overland Gear. I'm always needed more storage and these fit the bill...great fitment, easily adjusted and quickly removed. I'll probably throw them on the rear seats just so they are out of the way for passengers.

You guys should know its only about a few more bucks to do a retrofit, than to convert the front for a 06-09 look. Thats when you use oem toyota parts. Retrofit will provode better results.

Hey Alex, I noticed same problem after lifting, I needed to tweek the aim of my headlights down just a bit and then no more people flashing at me. (except when I space out and leave my brights on of course !)

Hey jdkilroy! It is very rarely when it happen, i can probably count on my fingers how many times it happen in year half that i have my HID. Ill try to see how my aim is and adjust it.
