What did you do with your 4runner today?

My bumper is already half ripped off (let my girl drive it ) and the mudflaps are already gone. Honestly I just have to do some wiring for blinkers, acro lights and the winch, and mount the winch and fairlead. Im also going to clean up any rust in there and paint it , I may also paint some suspension parts red for cool factor. Its going to be a little project , I plan to set a day aside for it. Glad to hear it wasn't hard to mount the bumper and no issues with brackets and such.

How did she do that on the way to the grocery store?

finally installed the daystar lift, or took it to a local toyota guy, and I was just the help. Not sure if on this forum, but a huge help from Blue05, and a tacoma guy.
also played with led light bar brackets. cant get it to fit right yet. now I have to get an allignment, and get my cv axles replaced. gaaaaay

I def want to do the "ghetto trac control mod ". If it was truly ghetto though you would use a reg household toggle switch with tape around it. I'm sure you did something nicer than that. I need to look into how you do that mod, I know I saw a thread on it.

Household toggle, check! Speaker wire, check! Heat shrink instead of tape, check!

changed out my odyssey pc1700mjt under the hood for the diehard pm1, and had to buy 10inch hold down bolts for it. the odyssey is about 7 years old now and only stays at 12.4 volts most the time. am i too early to change this battery out, charges fine and then it stays at that after i take the charger off. and no load on the battery.

Snow wheeling in Northern Connecticut

Tacoma was having issues with his differential and eventually snapped an axle, but he got stuck cause his power split isn't 50/50 constantly like it should be.

The snow was a little deep! Lost my momentum and got stuck a little bit in 8" of new snow on top harder packed stuff that I broke through.

Got both of them stuck too haha

The skinny KM2's did really well in the deep snow Saturday. I'm really pleased with them but I'm going to try 235/85/16 Dura Tracs on the Taco. better all-round tire than the KM2's I think.

I like absolute stuff, dude I want those tires, I have these Falken wildpeak ATs and they dont seem agressive enough for my taste, I guess the 18 inch rims I bought kind of make it hard to find good tires because I wanted those and I couldn't get them in my size. I already regret selling my stock wheels.

That's funny cuz everyone I wheel with that has duratracs say they're going with km2's for their next tire. I'm torn between km2's, Stt's and duratracs.

Chris, I think it really depends on what your plans are. I love the KM2's off road and they are well enough behaved on dry pavement. My Taco is more of a general use rig and when you compare the two treads, the KM2's are primarily large lugs, no siping to speak of. I don't find them as predictable on slippery pavement. The Dura Tracs are a little smaller lugs and they are pretty generously siped. I expect that their traction on snow over pavement and on wet pavement will be better and more predictable than the KM2's.

I think you have a real tough decision to make because its clear to see you spend a fair bit of time on snowy pavement. That said, I've seen some KM2's that folks have siped themselves and feel that they got better on-road traction as a result.

I am fortunate in that my 4Runner is primarily for off-road use.

All good points Jon. I need a tire for summer wheeling, I'm gonna keep the firestones for winter. I've heard that the stt's are a very quiet mt and that's appealing but the km2's are just great tires. Still have a few months before I choose so I can research more. I just wish cooper made the stt in a 305/70!

I'd steer you away from the STT's if you're going to be on the rocks. They do great on everything else and hardly wear for a mud tire but they chunk something awful every time they spin on the rocks.

305's ? That's 64 pounds of tire if you're using 17's in the KM2's; lotta weight.

Sounds like km2's are gonna be the next set. 59lbs for 285's, 5lb difference. Plus the 305's have more tread depth.
