What did you do with your 4runner today?

Yesterday/today I finally moved from an apartment to a house, turned my 45 mile commute into a 5 mile one. Finally have a garage to store and wrench on the 4runner. Now I'm just waiting on the big brown truck to deliver some parts I've been waiting on for several weeks so I can get started with the install.

Had a set of regular Rain X wiper blades put on right before winter. Noticed some noise the other day in the rain so I decided to throw on the most expensive wiper blades I could buy, well because my 4runner deserves the best! I went with the Rain X Latitudes. I love that they dont look like a normal metal wiper blade. And the performance is awesome!

:thumb3: I've used those several times as well as the Bosch and Michelin equivalents. Frameless wiper blades are the best. I'll have them on all my cars once again, as soon as the 4Runner needs a pair.

Finally picked up a hitch ball and a set of locks. I found a Reese security kit that has matching keys for the receiver lock and both trailer locks. Then I discovered the lack of storage compartments in the rear of my 4Runner... :frusty:

Apparently, I've been spoiled by all of my Subarus and Volkswagens and their in-floor storage systems. I guess that's the price you pay for ground clearance!

So I picked this up at Sears for $8:

It's the perfect size for all of my towing gear that I want to keep in the truck:

And it fits very snugly behind the rear seats. I leave the rear deck up almost all of the time, so it doesn't move around at all:

Now I just need to buy my trailer already!

You guys don't have a problem with the last 1" of the passenger side wiper not touching the windshield and leaving that small swipe of half-assed wiping?

I've tried bosch, rain-x, valeo, and a couple other brands on multiple vehicles and none of them fit snug to the windshield in that spot. I finally went back to the old style wipers last spring.

I've had them on multiple vehicles as well. They worked great on my '98 Golf GTI, '92 Golf GTI, '85 BMW 325, '01 Subaru Outback, '05 Subaru Legacy, and I currently have them on my '02 Jetta and my wife's '06 Ford Escape. I remember trying them on my '00 Ford Ranger, and returning them for some reason, but I don't remember why.

Certainly not doubting your experience at all. Maybe some vehicles have better results? Most of the cars I've had have windshields on the flatter end of the spectrum, so that could have something to do with it.

I'll be pretty bummed if they don't work well on the 4Runner, because I really like them so far.

In fact, now that you've mentioned it, my father-in-law tried them on his Tundra because I recommended them, and he took them back because he hated them. Maybe now I know why. He never takes my automotive advice, either. Go figure.

Dropped it off at Aspen Auto Clinic to have the seal in the rear output shaft replaced.

Picked it up from Aspen Auto Clinic today. Leak all gone

It is nice to deal with an honest shop. That is not something I can say too often.

Which ones are you using, the Latitudes? I think I'll go ahead and pick a set up next time they're on sale. Might as well be prepared this time around.

I installed the ones on my VW during a torrential downpour outside Advance Auto Parts a week after I bought it. Fun times. :frusty:

I can't believe no one else has the problem I have with those wipers, and you had a GM truck, like my other one, too!

I have that same problem right now. It doesn't really bother me, but im definitely going with different wipers next time.

Yeah, the Bosch are just as good, if not better. I have those on my wagon, and the Latitudes on my wife's Escape since I found them a little cheaper on sale. I'd be happy with either brand.
