What did you do with your 4runner today?

Nothing

Got home around 5am after a night shift, went to sleep and got up about 11am. Kinda still felt like s..t, so I had a couple of cups of coffee. Open the garage door, turn the boob tube on, kicked back on the couch,( yes, in the garage), and sit back and admired all the work I have done on the t4r.

Hate them lazy days, doing nothing to her.

Yesterday/today I finally moved from an apartment to a house, turned my 45 mile commute into a 5 mile one. Finally have a garage to store and wrench on the 4runner. Now I'm just waiting on the big brown truck to deliver some parts I've been waiting on for several weeks so I can get started with the install.

So after patiently waiting most of the day, UPS finally showed up with the goods. Went straight into the garage and got the front coil-overs installed. It's the 2.5 Icon extended travel fronts, Metal Tech long travel rear, Metal Tech lower links, extended length stainless steel brake lines, speed bleeders, 3/4" Cornfed spacer to correct driver side lean, and stuff to build extended rear swaybar links (not all pictured). Gonna be a busy couple of days. Will be posting my OW 2.0 kit in the classifieds soon just in case anyone's interested.

So after patiently waiting most of the day, UPS finally showed up with the goods. Went straight into the garage and got the front coil-overs installed. It's the 2.5 Icon extended travel fronts, Metal Tech long travel rear, Metal Tech lower links, extended length stainless steel brake lines, speed bleeders, 3/4" Cornfed spacer to correct driver side lean, and stuff to build extended rear swaybar links (not all pictured). Gonna be a busy couple of days. Will be posting my OW 2.0 kit in the classifieds soon just in case anyone's interested.

Yeah, the Bosch are just as good, if not better. I have those on my wagon, and the Latitudes on my wife's Escape since I found them a little cheaper on sale. I'd be happy with either brand.

RainX kept going bad on both of our SUVs sooner than expected. Went into O'Reilly Automotive and the gal behind the counter says her dad's shop only uses Bosch because they are the best. I was skeptical, but took the gamble. She was right...I now have both SUVs with Bosch wipers and haven't had to change them yet (been almost 2 years).

Heh...now's the time to get the ARB locker. They runnin' a special...buy a locker, get the mini-air compressor for free ($170 savings).

I can't believe no one else has the problem I have with those wipers, and you had a GM truck, like my other one, too!

I don't recall having that issue and wipers that skip are a pet peeve of mine too so I'd imagine I'd notice.

The only problem I have had with wipers is an old dodge ram I had would sling the metal rods that connected the traditional framed wipers to the rubber wiper part. I had to tie string around the ends one time in a rain storm to keep them from flying apart on high. Been frameless ever since!

The problem, at least with mine, wasn't skipping or prematurely wearing out, it's in the spring mechanism and the last inch of the blade wouldn't touch the windshield because the internal spring didn't press it against the glass.

I'll have to try to get a picture on my other truck when I get a chance.

So today I finally got around to checking to see If I have a light in my glove box. I can't believe I never noticed them after all the 4runners I have worked on! LMAO! Is there any mods out there to replaced that baby light? If not I will find a way to make it brighter in there with the help of some LED's. Never noticed because the factory light is weak sauce!

Found a mod in the 5th gen section I think will work on a 4th gen.

I replaced mine with a LED (#37 equivalent)...

I've used the latitudes since I got the 4runner. The first set i purchase was there recommended lengths for the 4r.
I had that little issue you speak of on the passenger side that bugged me I just went with an inch shorter blade and it fixed that little half ass wipe area.

of course I don't know why I even both putting on nice or even semi nice wiper blades. As soon as I get new ones they get destroyed with mud and debris from off-roading.

I've tried the Rain X Latitudes, Bosch Icons, and the Trico Onyx and TBH I actually had the most success out of the Trico's and they were cheaper, but the fit around the arm was a little tight.

But I mainly run the ones with the frames. I've had decent luck with Rain X Weatherbeaters and whatever the dealership sells. I'm gonna try those Michelin Stealth ones for the next set. They look promising. I swap blades so often that it really doesn't make sense for me to pay a premium for them. Sort of like why I don't run synthetic motor oil. I'd just rather change it often and have clean oil in there. I'm so anal/ADD about wipers skipping, streaking, or acting up in general.

My wife's Honda works great with the frame-less wipers though. She's still on her original set and it's a 2008.

When you purchase just the locker does it come with the carrier bearing it requires to pass the copper line into the locker actuator.

yessir! I pulled up and the techs came out and were disappointed they were in boxesound:

The ones that are my friends and i trust will be doing the install. I told them to let me know about spacers. Try with them on first, no rub leave them.

Excellent choice Ark but didn't you learn your lesson from Gaterose? or are you trying to 1UP him with number of suspension set ups? lol

What happened with the OW set up? are you adding some armor soon? is that why you upgraded?

whats the advantage of the metal tech rears over just a full Icon set up? do you not require adjustable upper control arms now?
