Update: just painted the grille surround gloss black and bedlined my mesh flat black. Finished pics tomorrow

Had to get the 4runner towed the other night. Engine started making a nasty knocking sound and started leaking oil and overheating.
I'm not entirely sure what is wrong with it but I think i may be looking at a blown gasket. Its off to the shop tomorrow to see what is actually wrong with it.

That looks like an overheating problem bound to happen. Not sure if I like it. The fit and finish looks a little off to me.

However, I do like the color matched TOYOTA emblem. I think if you switch to a mesh-like material instead of the solid material you'll be much happier with your engine temps.

Looks good though.

The look IMO is fantastic, but I agree that the smaller meshing you have seems like it would be a problem. I'm wanting to drop our engine temps so I'm looking into hood vents.

Good job. I love the emblem but I agree the mesh looks way too small and nearly "solid" in the pictures. The solid look seems to make the creases of the mesh near the folds stand out more. Then again, maybe its just the pictures.

Fit and finish is terrible, I agree. I'm gonna buy a new grille and do things a little different in the future. This was a learning experience.

Mesh isn't an issue, my friend has had this on his 2nd gen taco for a few years. No overheating problems, but I still have my stock grille and will take this off if I have heat issues. However, I HATED working with this mesh and I'm gonna go with a much more open mesh. Learning curve

Also, updates from my slow grille project. Wish I could have gotten it done for the wheeling trip yesterday.
I painted the emblem to color match on Friday with stuff from ATU and it looks great. The match is near perfect.
There are a few imperfections in the paint, but nothing you could see without a magnifying glass.

To anyone who wants to paint stuff 1d4 titanium metallic, I see no issues with the ATU stuff.

Yeah I used black plasti-dip, take a look at this post towards the bottom.
I won't be home til later this afternoon, but once I am I'll try and take some more evenly lit photos.
