What did you do with your 4runner today?

Mounted and hard wired a Passport Escort 8500 X50 with a mirror mount and Smart wire. Pretty happy with it.

wow. I dont even like my golf bag being in the back longer than a day, let alone a cooler sloshing.

ended up buying a beast of a floor jack, a friend brought his over but it clearly wouldn't cut it. also received my spidertrax in the mail.

busy expensive weekend coming up, tires gave out right after I scheduled my brake and fluid job at the shop. so good news is a finally get some AT tires, bad news is i'll be eating ramen noodles for a month haha i really need my own garage.

i have a 3 ton jack like that and I hate it. Sure, it's great for lifting my truck, but i live on the third floor and it weights 100 lbs and I never want to bring it anywhere.

I have 6 ton stands too that are beasts, 40 bucks at harbor freight for the set, though i wouldn't trust a jack from there. I'd like a cheaper, small bottle jack that's lighter

Good to hear your truck is getting fixed. Just FYI, when I needed 1 new wheel after my accident, Amazon was the cheapest for buying 1 wheel at the time because it was free shipping. Not sure if that's the case now but worth a look I guess. Good luck!

Thanks man. Turns out that the insurance adjuster went back and forth with my mechanic for a bit and they ended up settling in replacing only the axle housing and moving all my internals (gears/etc) over to the new housing. Which increases the labor, but saves overall.

Apparently the whole new rear end costs much more, and used around the area have too many miles.

Whatever - at least I'm getting a brand new shiny housing! Will look good from the back and essentially a free oil change to go with it.

Can't believe that and the wheel are it! I think my mechanic went ahead and ordered the wheel direct from American Racing. I should have looked into that.

But go figure I booked a camp site to pull the trailer to next Thursday (booked a couple months ago), but my mechanic doesn't think it will be done until next Friday. And to boot - the rental car they gave me is a CHRYSLER 200. WOW that thing makes me appreciate my 4runner! About the only thing that is going for the Chrysler is the new car smell. Other than that - POS with no power and a terrible transmission to go with it.

yeah, I live on the third floor too, I just take it in the elevator, so no biggie.

I need to find a solution for my ride a long jack, the stock bottle jack doesn't cut it anymore.

really? they're my go to for non-moving parts stuff... but something like a jack ... where if it fails it can kill you... i dunno man

Im not gonna like, my Harbor Freight jack is the best jack I've used by far, including many snap on, mac and craftsman ones. It pumps up faster and easier and cost a fraction of any other 3 ton floorjack.

Nice! Building my rear bumper has been an amazing experience. And being able to say "I built that" when people ask is even better!

Sadly it has taken me a lot longer than expected due to unseen set backs (fractured tibia, work, and others) but I have everything ready and cut to add the swing outs so it should be done very soon!!
