Installed my RCI front skid, and it made me happy.
It would have been a lot easier if some of the two screws weren't still in the front crossmember. Today is the 2nd time I've ever tried to use my Drill-Out set, and it's the 2nd time I've broken one. I ended up drilling right through and adding a longer bolt with lock washer and a nut on top. I used stainless fasteners all around, too.

Finished up the Bilstein 5100 front shock install today. Set them to 2.5" in combo with my 1.5" DS rear spacers. Very happy with the ride and looks! Much better than the Monroe Reflexes that were in there. Rims/tires next on the list :rockon:

Yes it's big and heavy! So I'll try on my own at some point.
It can't be too bad. I'll put a towel down to protect my paint.
Stripped the wheels and painted a gunmetal color. Looks 100% better than before. The clear cost was shot. I sand blasted them first.
What did you use to strip the wheels?

I heli coiled the front ones and used clip nuts on the rear.

Would you recommend RCI skids? Really want the set for my 4runner, just can't quite seem to justify it.

4 of 8 of my skid bolts sheered off.
I tried drilling through them but it isn't working. I'm considering a plasma cutter at this point :frusty:

I know your feeling. As much as my radiator support member was rusted, had that sick feel when removing the stock bolts. Ran them back and forth a partial turn several times before going for the gusto and got lucky. Bet your sweet bippy everything got lots of lube and stainless hardware going back together.
I would, particularly since Josh went the extra mile and helped with shipping to HI which would have killed me.
The aluminum plate fit perfectly. Already commented elsewhere on my preference for stainless hardware rather than what is provided. That is personal preference of course.

Middle runner looks great!! Never seen that kind of mesh grille on a 4th gen (left), looks really good.
The grill on the left, you can find those on eBay. I asked the user on here for a closeup pic of the install, he never showed how it really holds, but it's like using the wire ties from the pre packaged cable. I don't know if it's rust proof, but eventually it'll break.

Fancy! I can't picture using clip nuts on the rear. I didn't pay attention to how those holes were, because the original screws came out the easiest.
Definitely! I took recommendations from here, plus there was a group buy. Josh from RCI is great to work with. I called and he listened to my use case, made a recommendation, and didn't oversell me on stuff I don't need. That earned my respect and business.
I wanted aluminum, and RCI is one of the two companies that offer it. The price is in the middle of the range of the companies that are listed here. I'm very happy with the quality. The piece is like art, and my friends and family were really impressed with the craftsmanship when they saw the piece.
The front passenger side one was broken off, but at least there was a "nub" to grip. Penetrating oil + torch + Vise Grips took care of that. The driver's side one was ground flat with the frame, so I couldn't see the center, and I missed with the Drill-Out. After that, I brought out the carbide drill bit.
I did run a tap through some of the holes to clean up the threads, and it helped. I didn't put lube or Loctite on yet, but I'l probably remove the skid in the next couple of weeks for some maintenance, anyway, so I can do it then.

If that's the case, screw that. I live in the rust belt and for sure that won't last. Looks great, but not worth the aggravation if I have constantly have to tend to it. I had a brushguard on my Grand Cherokee YEARS ago and had to sand/primer/repaint parts of it every spring.
