What did you do with your 4runner today?

Hey, I got some compound behind the scoop screen and need to pull it out to clean behind it, does that screen just pop out or is there a particular way I need to remove it?

PS, while I was compounding it, I hit the light lenses at the same time, they came out like new.
Didn't see any reason to use a different product on them, worked perfect.

Not at all. The only thing is that only one bolt will go in the front mount. It holds me up, so I'm not concerned with it. I'll try to get a pic of the front mount and post it here.

I thought I cleared this rock with my drivers side tire but I ended up sitting on it, just a few scratches as proof of a good time.

That would have freaked me out...

I was worried sick! LUCKILY I was with a crack team of off road engineers, so we all looked at ALL the possibilities, and made a decision of how to go about recovering my truck. After some clever rigging and Hilift work, my truck got out relatively unharmed. I did squash my drivers side exhaust pipe (where it crosses under the t-case/trans)

RCI has great skid plates and a even better price!!

They do! I want a full belly skid setup. I'm fighting sheered bolts at the moment and I can't seem to get a break. I broke off an easy out inside of one of the bolts I drilled out... I can't win... New England loctite at it's worst

Umm, well it certainly isn't April 1st, to be calling you on it.. So what gives?

I'm sick of automatic. I'm sick of fixing things that I break (I have LOTS to do, including ANOTHER new trans within 10-15k from now because this is starting to shudder) and I just want something fresh.

HOWEVER, they gave me an estimate of $7,500 because of the $1,800-ish worth of damage to the passenger rear, so I'll be keeping her for a while longer.

I REALLY want a freakin manual. I sometimes question why I got a 4R instead of an FJ or Taco to start with. If I could do it over again, I'd be in an FJ.

Oh well. I still love my truck and will probably end up keeping her til the wheels fall off! Might peruse CL for an 04+ V6 6spd 4x4 with decent miles

Hmm.. Interesting take on things.. I have always been a manual transmission type of guy as well, so I know where you are coming from.
It's always nice and refreshing to drive an auto from time to time though, especially one that you can take to the mountains and have a great time..

maybe keep your runner AND get a 6speed :tea:

for trade thats good. I got 9000 at my best dealership ive done a ton of business at. I'd take 12 resale and 10k trade in a second!
