What did you do with your 4runner today?

Cut some more off my body mount cause I rub like crazy still... Also I think it may be time for new cv's sometime soon

Another lesson learned....lol

When i got my Demello bumper installed it left a huge gap under my stock 03-05 grill. This is the reason i decided to buy an 06-09 grill. When i got the chrome grill i just started working on it by sanding, priming, painting, wet sanding and polishing. This is where that second pic left off

I figured the hardest part would be to make the longer rod for the secondary release. I went out and pulled my old grill and installed the new one. Lowered the hood to see how close it was......it wasn't even close to fitting. I spent several hours cutting, grinding and test fitting. I finally gave up and put my old grill back on. Today i decided to give it another stab. I ended up cutting over an inch off the bottom, just above the bottom cross bar. The metal frame has an "L" shape to it across the bottom. I cut the vertical portion off, leaving the flat part. This did make it slightly weaker so i installed small screws all the way across the bottom holding the frame to the bottom of he grill. It is plenty strong now. I still have to make the longer rod but that can happen another day. Just glad to get this part done. Better pics to come

Its all pretty much the same geometry as stock. Did move the lower balljoint towards the front of the car about 1/2" to help with body mount clearance, as well as uniball pushed back a bit for increased caster. Final caster should sit around 7º, and the heims should allow me to dial it in side to side. So far the process hasnt been that hard. Made jigs off the stock arms, and then carefully cut the jig and extended it. Then just fill in the the jig with steel.

I was thinking before how to keep it ifs and move the front tires forward. I want to push the front tires forward an inch and the rear tires back an inch as well. I wonder if an inch would be to far.

Yeah that could be a bit far. I forgot how I settled on 1/2" forward, I think I asked Happysmiley over on TTORA how he did his, and basically just copied him. Nice thing about long travel though is the tire sits out further, so body mount clearance isnt as much of an issue. Firewall/fender clearance might be an issue though. As for the back, custom links would probably allow you to push it back some without changing much else

This was actually yesterday, but I got home and went right to bed, so I figured I'd post it now :D

Went scuba diving and had a blast. Thank god we took my 4Runner as opposed to my buddy's little Mercedes Benz, cause the road to get to the dive site might as well have been an offroad trail!

i didnt like the idea that someone could just walk up and take my rola rack off by hand so i added some lock nuts. not that it will help for someone with tools but i see no need to lock the thing to the truck
