So what are the chances a #6 cylinder misfire is just bad spark plugs and not step 1 of a bad headgasket diagnosis.\?



2006 V6, 155k miles, I've only had it a year and 9 months.

Truck was running really rough but it started out of the blue 10 minutes into a drive the other day, not at start up. Then it ran rough all the time after that so I have it at my trusted garage.

I have not mentioned the potential of a headgasket to them, don't want to jump the gun. It’s not exhibiting any other signs of a bad head gasket—coolant and oil look great.

They are doing the rear brakes for me as well (it's 2 degrees here) and he seemed to think some new plugs would be the right first step.

I'm a pessimist though, I'm fearing the wor$t

Injectors go bad all the time or look at I don't know what you call it coil pack or plug that plugs on top of spark plug they as well go bad and if it is bad same thing will run like a turd cause it won't fire the cylinder it's plugged into. Want to check if it's head gasket take dip stick out look at the oil if it's full of bubbles it's head gasket if it's honey brown like normal not the head gasket.

Just (mostly) finished mine as well, just need to wire the parking lights. Ordered what I hope is the right adapter so I don't need to damage the original harness. Planning (right now at least) to just use the lower signals

Went on a little drive up Israel Canyon in Saratoga Springs

took the wife and kid on a little drive the other day, we didn't go all the way to the top due to the sun going down on us sooner than expected. Ill post again once we make it up to the top.

Replaced my driver side wheel bearing this weekend super easy instal. Then today i replaced the passenger side axle seal today. After swapping the CV a couple of weeks ago i noticed it started leaking, not a ton i just started noticing little spots and just drips here and there. Instal went smooth until i went to check the fluid after and couldn't get the fill plug out to check the fluid and ended up stripping it!Had to us a punch at the end, then i ended up replacing it with a new plug with a 19mm head so i don't have to worry about that in the future..

After swapping the CV a couple of weeks ago i noticed it started leaking, not a ton i just started noticing little spots and just drips here and there. Instal went smooth until i went to check the fluid after and couldn't get the fill plug out to check the fluid and ended up stripping it!Had to us a punch at the end, then i ended up replacing it with a new plug with a 19mm head so i don't have to worry about that in the future..

I gotta do this on the wife's GX. Did you just use a stndard round punch and dig it into the side there?

Just talked to the garage, truck is all set, plugs and brakes done. He said after he put the new plugs it ran "smooth as a kitten.” So I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed that that was all it was.

Awesome! Tell me about your lift setup. This is my next undertaking to get 255/85's on my truck.

Sure, no problem. I went with the Bilstein 6112's set to the 2" setting (second from the top) paired with ebay UCA's for the front, and bilstein 5100's with toytec 2" springs for the rear. It sits just about level, with the front maybe .5" lower than the rear. The only rubbing I had was on the front mudflaps at about 3/4 turn, pulled those off and my rubbing issues are gone.

Best part besides how awesome it looks is the ride. Had the OEM non-xreas shocks on there at 85k miles, and the best way I can describe how it rode was boatlike. It would dive into corners and wallow around like a whale on land.

With the new springs/shocks, its firm without being harsh. Very confident in turns and over bumps. To quote McDonalds, I'm lovin' it.
