What did you do with your 4runner today?

Added six more D-rings to the cargo area. I like things tied down tight offroading and like them to come out fast when I get to camp. Stable cargo management is a priority and the Labs need a central area when traveling.

That's wise to do especially if you'll be towing.

To remove the bumper cover the clips for the bumper cover are a common problem with all the plastic on Toyota front ends. You have to use a small flathead screwdriver to popout the head, then the expanding underside slides out. You can't just pry them out.

Same thing putting them in. The head has to be out to get the expanding underside in, then you pop the head in.

I've replaced dozens and dozens of those popout clips on Tundras and Tacomas, replaced all of them on this Runner.

It's surprising how many buzzing noises are eliminated by replacing those clips, they deteriorate after a few years. 4Runner front ends have a lot of them.

I meant the clips Toyota instructs you to "tape a screwdriver" to get out. I believe they're metal. You can't see or feel these clips with the bumper on. It was maddening! I took out all the bolts and plastic and screws, but still couldn't get it off!

To your point, I agree. They're POS things.

Ok Ok. Well I'm not going to make my own because I don't trust my work when it comes to stuff like that, I know it's not a very important part but I don't want to corrupt the sway bar too much. But I will be buying the skyjackers today. Are they the extended ones or are there one kind of em? Which would be best, on a toytec boss coilover /5100 superflex coils suspension. Bc I know there are different links to choose from

Edit: I just looked and there's some for all different ride height lifts. 3-4, 5-6 eat. Which ones did you get or should I get. I want to bring the front of my lift a little higher so should I get longer links or what. Or can I not bring it up because of the down travel/stiffness on the springs. I'm very confused

Extended sway bar links won't do anything for lift brotha, they just allow you to use all the new height you acquired from lifting your rig so now your tires have more space to travel which having extended links allows them to do so and not be restrained by stock length end links. Hope that helps with the confusion.

Sick of looking at my still FACTORY front marker light bulbs (I never replaced them since I bought her). Having retro (CBI Bulbs) and V3 tritons make the side marker lights look silly. Can't wait till they are here and installed!

Painted my rear hitch, plan to also paint the rear step but need to buy some gray trim paint.

Also replaced my spare with a new steel rim and tire since my old one was 16 years old and rusted.

...and repainted my center caps.

No I understand that, but the coilovers I have are adjustable. I'm looking as I type this and I have about 1 full inch on drivers side and double that on passengers (not sure why it's like that? Weight distribution I guess?) so would I be able to loosen them/make them higher or would my bilsteins need to be swapped also given if they are at max setting? Thus resulting in a longer end link. Right now I'm going to go with the 3 inch extended because that's about the size if the factory ones just a tad bit longer. Thx for responding everyone blew past this question lol

You know, sometimes I just do things for the heck of it after reading about them here. Anyway, I installed some led running lights and vanity lights from vled. I think that pretty much finished my led conversion.

Also did the transmission drain and fill. Figured why not. Replaced about 5 quarts total. I got 3.5 quarts from the drain port. Then I opened the check valve with the car off and lost about 1.5. Anyway, figured out what I did wrong and got it filled to the right level with the truck running.

Not sure if it will make a difference but ya.

Got her aligned and surprisingly they exceeded my expectations of numbers. Drove down the road and got a new muffler installed then played in the mud for a bit since it finally rained out here. Lastly added some sticker bling! [emoji41]

Yes sir. I have the torque app and a dongle with the custom pid for Trans temp. I still double checked with toyotas built in check temp mode. The custom pid was accurate so thats cool. Also cool to see a specific procedure with the shifter do something with the computer.

Now I just need to determine how many times to hit the hazards, press the brakes and rub the dashboard to activate another 200hp.

Bought my first 4th gen last weekend with a "blown engine". Repaired the surfaces where the cam chain tensioners (that fell off) mate to the heads (headgaskets done a few months ago...mechanic failed to tighten the tensioners)... Put new timing chains. When I backed it outta the garage, I found a torque converter bolt on the floor (previous owner had a Toyota reman trans installed 4 months ago) so I yanked the starter and reinstalled, then retorqued the other 5. Interior was nasty...must have kept cans of Coke in the cup holders, so disassembled the console, soaked in water, cleaned, reassembled...looks good now. Idle relearn took a while, but seems good at this point.

Needs a good carpet shampoo, a set of floor mats, and a dashmat to tidy up the inside, possibly need to yank the diff and the oil pan to change the main and rod bearings (quite a bit of tensioner got ground up and into the oil )
