What did you do with your 4runner today?

I bought the metal tech long travel springs and shocks and they do same thing. They also make a ton of noise going over bumps in parking lots. Pulled them out to see what it was and I can see where the coils at the top are hitting the bucket in the frame. Thinking of getting Icons overland springs

I am getting ready to do a backup camera install. Pioneer head unit and backup camera. Do you have an write ups or wisdom to share from your install? I'm going to be doing it to my 1997 SR5. One thing I have to figure out is where/how to mount that camera.

Well guys, today I purchased a 2017 TRD Off Road. Im super pumped for the upcoming adventure but that does mean that my 2005 will be on the market shortly.
Here are some shots from the dealership.
It's being shipped out to me so it is still a week or two out.

Damn man, your truck was one of the inspirations I used as ive been building mine, sad to see it go.. However the new truck looks beautiful im sure it wont be stock too long. If your parting anything out please let us know!

Naw this takes me maybe 10 minutes or less to get to this point once i got it jacked up. If i had a nice jack i could get it done real quick. My method is pretty simple with how the spc uca is. After the tire is off disconnect abs wires and get out the way same with the caliper, then loosen the ball joint nut move uca out of the way, next take out the lower shock bolt, swing lower control arm out of the(benifit of the polly bushings) next undo the 3 nuts up top and bam its out of your way. Im sure the lack of no front axles a hell of alot easier. And also i dont have a sway bar in the way also. But what ive learned over the years is you ask ten mechanics how to do something and you will get told ten different way. Also having all the right tools on hand helps. ive put tool truck salesmens kids through college over the past 5 years

Almost done with rear bumper
My rear bumper build is almost done. I finished the side pieces
, now I'm working on the tire carrier and the fuel can carrier. A little paint on the back and I'll be done. My next projects will be a dual battery system, do the front headlights (clean the plastic and install HIds), build a roof rack to carry my rooftop tent, and build a set of sliders. More projects in the future, but I work slowly!

Here's a pic of my side fenders...nothing special, but they give me a lot of ground clearance
I'll update they build thread with a lot more pics as soon as I finish the rear tire carrier.

Thanks [MENTION=85520]Billynath1988[/MENTION], appreciate the compliments! It has been a wonderful adventure with this rig and yes the TRD won't be stock too long. It won't be quite as extensive of a build as the 4th Gen but definitely will be lifted and modified.
Will keep you posted on any parting out or anything coming available.

Have some plans but nothing as intense as the 4th Gen. I will be lifting it and adding some bigger tires but not as much as a lift as I have now and not as big as 35's
As for what pushed me, I have just realized a lot of my wants and recent upgrades already came stock on a newer vehicle (like bluetooth, touch screen, etc). Also, I'm taking more longer travel expeditions vs day wheeling trips and so I wanted something a bit better on gas. Also the 4th Gen is at a point where it's still has a lot of life in it and will be able to get a better price to sell.
I also really like these 5th Gens. The TRD Off Road was a great package.

It was my fault. I was being a dummy. After a great and hard wheeling trip there was this pretty decent hill and I had just taken it out of 4low so I thought hammer down and ill make it in 2wheel drive. I go for it and on the hill it was uneven so it picked up my back tire and since I don't have a locker or anything the tire that picked up was spinning real fast and it came down hard and boom grenaded. 100% my stupidity :clap2:

Awful sound isn't it? I did the same thing. But mine was just accelerating up a slight incline and wasn't even romping down on it.
Either way, great time to regear!

It is one of the worst sounding things that I've heard in awhile, it makes you cringe with every pop it makes. Now I know what to hear for :tsk: But I dont think I'm actually going to regear or at least just put the same ratio back in there and get myself a locker (leaning towards a lunchbox) do not have the cash for a arb air locker. My reason being is that I dont have the cash to regear the front. Also I drive far and wouldn't want my gas mileage to be worse.
