What did you do with your 4runner today?

added rear seat usb ports for power! Finally been able to put the truck to use the past summer, and rear power was much needed. Followed http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/132027-rear-seat-usb-install.html as a guide, I kept the faceplate as I preferred the look and wired it to constant power so that it can be used even when the car is off.

doing passive right now, my rockford amp have enough power to push it, although some post i seen says 250w and up.
want to try and do active, i can use my rear amp to power the tweeter and get rid of the rears in general, not sure if i want to risk blowing up my speakers since i play pretty loud at times.
i changed my alternator over the weekend on my V6 4runner, wasnt as much of a PIA as i thought it would be. You definitely dont need to take out the skid plate, you can just remove it from the top.
The only thing that i dont like is that I have 81k miles, i dont think the alternator should've went this early on... oh well, new denso replacement went in so i should be good.

Not exactly today, but last night my Dad and I FINALLY finished my Timing belt replacement. I spent 3 days trying to break loose the crank pulley bolt. the toyota SST made it stupidly easy, if I had it the first time, it wouldve easily been a one day job.
I bought a timing belt and component kit, and a serpentine belt component kit from rockauto, so I have myself a brand new water pump ans gasket, thermostat and o-rings, serpentine idler and tensioner, timing idlers and tensioner, belts, oil, oil filter, and coolant.
My timeline looks a bit like this:
Day 1: disassemble to crank pulley, including removing the radiator, but struggle with the crank bolt, not even budging with the impact on it at 150psi.
Day 2: continue to struggle, weekend ending means I need the 4runner back together, so we call it and reassemble, only replacing the components we were able to remove. serpentine belt, tensioner, idler, thermostat, and oil change.
Two weeks later:
Day 3: My uncle decided he wanted to see if he could crack it loose, took the 4runner to one of his friends who had a lift, tried to jam the flexplate and use an extra long torque multiplier, no dice. put the skidplates on and called it. I'm going to order the SST.
Two weeks later:
Day 4: SST breaks that bolt loose as if it was just hand tight. stripping everything that needs to come off to get to the timing belt was annoying, and the sheer number of different bolts was annoying too, but we got the new belt in before it got dark, and called it a night just as the bugs started getting annoying.
Day 5: 4runner is back together by noon. start it up and get P0016 and P0018, camshaft correlation errors. Turns out we used the wrong marks to line things up. There are TDC marks and ATDC marks, if I'm not mistaken the ATDC marks are the ones recommended to use when installing a new belt. before noon we used ATDC on the camshafts but TDC on the crank. the 4runner seemed to run just fine, I guess VVT-i is capable of absorbing that much misalignment, which is impressive, IMO. We pulled everything apart again, fixed the timing, and reassembled. No more CEL for me!
Today, all I have planned is replacing a HVAC cluster light, and rear hatch switch.

I finally ordered a new stereo. I decided on a Kenwood DMX7704s. It seemed like the best bang for my buck.

It's weird. I have seen pics of others who mounted them and no mention of them not fitting. When I go to put mine on, they don't want to "snap" in securely. Almost like the hub is too true or something...

On mine I just did the Toyota emblems and I just taped the areas around it off (and hung a towel over the radiator behind the grill for the front badge) and sprayed they whole badge but my 4r is a dark gray so you can't see the dip in the middle unless you're right up on it
Just taped around the emblems and then peeled the overspray off with the tape. Just youtube plasti dip emblems.

I replaced my rear driveshaft today. No matter how much I greased and cleaned the old one, the clunk would not go away for more than a day or two. Now it's soooooooo smooth. It was a pretty easy job to do once I figure out the front end bolt situation. The front (transfer case end) is just four 14mm nuts. The bolts are part of the flange and cannot be loosened. The rear (differential end) is four nuts and bolts. Just put a combo wrench on the nuts and a breaker bar on the bolts and you're good to go.

I got brave and changed my spark plugs today. I've never changed them in an automobile before. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had the right tools and slim female hands. I have 115k on my rig after buying it with 86k. I was surprised to find the 3 Denso/ 3 NGK plugs. It was originally a leased vehicle that was sold as certified preowned at about 30k. Could I really have this many miles on the original plugs? The engine sounds sooooo smooth now. I also finally installed my Fumoto valve. Hope I got it tight enough. I did it with the skid plate on and I had to tighten at a weird angle. I'll check it later and make sure it doesn't loosen.

New Wheels, Tires, Headlights, and HIDs
Just bought, before any upgrades.
Just recently bought my first T4R and couldnt wait to start upgrading it. Bought a set of immaculate 2017 T4R Limited 20" Wheels on Craigslist for 500$ and wrapped them in a set of Michelin 255/55r20 which set me back about 850$ but I love how they look on the 4th gen. Front is pretty tight but surprisingly there is no rubbing at all.
Just picked up wheels.

The headlight assemblies were cloudy and looked horrible. While I couldve went the cheap route and buffed them out, I decided since I was already spending way too much money, that I should go ahead and buy aftermarket headlight assemblies and new HIDs for the highs, lows, and fogs. After some research on here I went with some blackened halo projectors I saw on ebay and went to Theretrofitsource.com and ordered the Morimoto Elite 6500k kits.

Hopefully this post isnt too long and boring for you guys. Next time I do an upgrade Ill try to have more pics and write up a detailed thread on it. Most of this was dont after work and I barely got the lights finished before it got too dark to work. Is there a gap between your projector unit and the rest of the headlight ? I just recently got halos and there is a gap between my projector and halo where I can see inside the headlight unit
