What did you do with your 4runner today?

Tore the interior out to install minor sound deadening. I used about 30 sq ft of noico 80mil butyl rubber on the floors and I used about 15 sq ft of noico 50 mil on the doors then I sprayed rustoleum undercoating on the inside rear quarter panels and on the backside of the plastic panel for the rear hatch
Spent about $135 for everything and it made a huge difference
Can’t imagine how nice it would sound if I would have used MLV, high quality rubber and a closed cell foam but I could imagine it would 100% be worth it if you have the funds available
My project took about 11 hours start to finish and the doors were more of a pain than the floors

I did accidentally tear the plastic cover on the passenger door when I was removing it, and of course now it has a nasty rattle at certain times, would it cause any issues if I just remove it completely?

Hacked up my Hitchgate Solo to tuck it a lot closer to the body. Went from ~9" to ~2" from the tailgate.

Transmission Drain & Fill

Transmission drain and fill at 206,217 miles. I was starting to get the 'rumble strips', so we'll see if it solves that issue. I purchased the vehicle with 180k miles and this is the first transmission service I've had done. The mechanic said fluid looked OK. The vehicle is a daily driver, no off-roading.

Main reason for picking this particular dash cam was the extremely hot temperatures we have here in CA during summer months (between 100F-110F). Street Guardian is an Australian based company with a good rep and great customer service and these cams are said to perform quite well in extreme heat.

The lift is from a 4" spindle with 2" springs up front. 3" springs and 1.5" coil spacer in rear. There's no squat after I took all the tools and spare wheels out

Are you referring to the plastic vapor barrier behind the interior door panel?

If so, it a vapor/moisture barrier to help keep mositure from the back side of the panel and does help keep humidity down in the interior, if you remove it you will risk getting mold on the back side of the panel which could possibly migrate to the interior.

The simple fix is to seal the tear with packing tape or similar tape, the correct fix is to use the old sheet as a template and cut a new one from heavy plastic sheeting.

Installed a Cobra 19 DX IV with a front fender mounted antenna (figured it could be useful for offroading/highway trips) and replaced my front speakers with some Pioneer 6x9s (my driver door speaker stopped working so I figured I'd upgrade both). Love having decent audio again

Wasn't raining today so I thought I'll do something to please my ears. Replaced the decomposing corpse of a factory subwoofer with a fresh Pioneer unit.

My new lower control arms, upper ball joints, and sway bar bushings have arrived.....all getting put in the day after Christmas.

Each to their own, I had one of these on my first 4Runner and I didn't like it. It felt like I was going to break it every time I started the vehicle and I didn't like having the heavier fob in the key slot when I went off road. Now I have the key and AJT fob and I'm happy. When I go off road I use just the key so there's no rattling.

But I do get why other people like these.

I'm liking it a lot. The buttons are solid with a tactile click, and the ink looks to be printed pretty well. The lanyard loop seems to be aluminum also. My OEM fob had the famous broken loop, so I bought two spares on eBay since I bought it with only one key and wanted extras. Those eBay fobs triggered the panic button too easily so I was annoyed and wanted to try something different. It was $30 for the AJT case, or $38 + $ 10 key cutting fee to have another set of keys and a new style so I went with that. I'll give a long-term update if anything goes wrong with it.

I liked the 33s but I couldn't shake the thought of how it would look with a bigger tire. Went back to the shop and picked up a set of 35s today. I planned to regear it already, but I think these fit the wheel/lift combo a little better. Just needs some minor trimming here and there

Steering

Had the old rack and pinion changed out on my 2004 V8 Limited. Steering is so much better. Shipped the core back to Rock Auto also.

Finally got around to removing the running boards today. I really think the 4runner looks much better now.
