Dropped off a replacement ecu to Toyota and then got a call later in the afternoon saying the ecu was good and the truck was ready to be collected. They suggested that I should take it for a drive to see how it performs.
Got in the truck and it was ticking a little fast at just over 1000 rpm, so I took it out on the road and it seemed to be wanting to rev much higher than I wanted. Pulled into the driveway and when I stopped the check engine and vsc lights came on. Plugged in my obdII monitor and got a couple of codes, P0206 and one similar code. Went back to Toyota and they believe it's good news, because with a working ecu they can clearly see the code leads to the O2 sensor or it's wiring. I was going to do the sensor myself but he said it could be the wiring and suggested I wait until their senior mechanic comes in Monday.
I own this truck nearly a month now and have barely driven it, the original used car dealer screwed me good on the purchase. When I went to get the replacement ecu from him yesterday he was only interested in getting the non working one back so he could recover the $115 he paid for the second one.
It's a 2005 V6 4Runner, I am well annoyed and just want to start getting it ready the way I want instead I am still trying to get the truck running properly before I start doing anything else to it. Totally sucks...

That really blows. Just know that once you get it sorted, you're really going to enjoy your 4Runner. They're great vehicles and surprisingly competent even stock.
First time posting in this thread. My suspension came in yesterday and will be getting installed on the 14th so today Im doing some preparing. I’m going 3in in the front with icon 2.5s and 2in in the back with icon 2.0s with reservoirs. I also have a set of JBA control arms to go along with the shocks. The tires I’m going with are 285/75/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers.
Once everything’s on I will be doing more cutting in the front with a more aggressive angle on the bumper while cleaning up today’s cuts. The rear might need some slight trimming at the most. If anyone can point me to a thread that explains the pinch welds and the best way to hammer them down (possibly with pictures), I would seriously appreciate it!

My buddy has air tools so we used a saw for the bumper so it didn’t get too hot and melt/ruin the paint, and for the fender liner we used wheel saw just because it’s faster. The cuts are clean but not completely straight so once everything’s bolted on I’ll try to straighten some spots on the previous cuts.

Started working on some maintenance stuff, as one of the cv axle boots just started seeping and the front passenger wheel bearing started making noise. The rear pads were also getting a bit low, and decided if I'm going to be pulling axles and doing brakes, I might as well pull all the XREAS stuff and replace with Bilsteins all at one time, do gear oil changes, etc.
Today: new rear pads/rotors, drained & filled rear diff, drained front diff and pulled both CV's to go get re-greased and re-booted.
Bilstein 5100's should be in tomorrow and for now I'll be keeping the stock springs, since I'm just looking to level for now and will probably replace coils next year with a set of Dobinsons.

After months of trying to figure out a super annoying rattle noise coming from the passenger sun visor area, I finally dropped the headliner and decided to take a look. I think I found my culprit coming from the clip that holds my sunroof drain tube. I put foam tape all over it... and everything that looks like it could rattle in the future, lol. I also took this opportunity to add sound deadening butyl mats on the ceiling.
Fingers crossed for fixing the rattle!

FINALLY got all of my control arms replaced.
Ride feels absolutely AMAZING as it was at 185k with all OEM parts before I replaced these. Went with some adjustable 'Mevotech' uppers that I found on Rockauto for $200 each and it turned out they're SPCs....that're normally closer to $600 SPC Adjustable Upper Control Arm Set for 2003+ 4Runner, 2007+ FJ Cruiser (25480)
They're branded with SPC on the arms and the camber/caster plates. So are the real deal. Ended up being ~$400 shipped after a 5% discount code.

usually they plate and light are required...in MA they are but thats a tough benchmark (f'n state) looks sick...
i thought you were the guy on here from texas with an rx7 and like 4 other cars lol. looks like a clone with wheels and i think he got that carrier too
