I agree, it's so subtle, I love it. Please excuse the HVAC display, this is getting "fixed" this week.

So I'm sure many of us have the factory leather seats and are torn. Repair kits are worthless as far as I'm concerned, so I went online and found only the drivers seat bottom. I had a local leather installer ( Security Check Required ) put it on. He was done in 20 minutes. Anyway, if anyone is in the South East Pennsylvania area, check him out, reasonable price and excellent work! Guy's name is Bob, company is called "Absolute Perfection Repair Service". He installs leather seats to new cars via dealers and also installs remote starters. Nice guy, I totally recommend him!

Incredible how fast he took the seat cover off. He never took the seat out of the car.

Wow, that HVAC display looks horrible! I’d never be able to live with that. Hopefully Sparky will get you all fixed up. Please post pics of everything when he’s done. I’m considering doing mine, and want to see how the cluster comes out especially.

Yep, it is one of my favorite mods so far! I wasn’t sure if I’d like the tiny compartment because I used to store property keys and stuff in the other one, but I have to say that the overall looks and functionality trumps that many times over! I also removed that stupid metal cigarette holder since I don’t smoke, nor will ANYONE ever in my vehicles! I still use that little compartment to store the master keys I use the most, and moved the rest to one of the divided areas in my console (have the Vehicle OCD organizers in there), so it all worked out perfectly. I also bought a USB adapter for that spot, but I wish it had the voltage meter as that is a very useful thing to know if your charging system is doing its thing. I chose mine because it was the lowest profile one I could find, and doesn’t look like an adapter. I’m happy with its aesthetics and functionality, but that display is great.

I love mine too, but I completely removed the lighter and replaced it with a USB/Voltmeter that's hardwired in. I use the little cubby to store chapstick.

Well not today but Thursday afternoon I Managed to get my 'new' (used) 4Runner out of 4WD high and got the 4 low actuator unstuck and working! It's warmed up a bit and all the recommendations and hints I have been reading about on this forum to resolve this problem finally worked !
I operated all 4WD functions about 40 + times with no hiccoughs!

but I completely removed the lighter and replaced it with a USB/Voltmeter that's hardwired in.

I like it and want one!

Electrical Gremlins

Hello from a new guy.

Have a 1 family owned 2000 in great condition.

Only problem is electrical gremlins.

All started with a remote starter installed by the dealer that shorted some wires a few years ago. I have fixed all the burnt areas but now I'm busy trying to fix the rear wiper, washer, and window.
Repaired all the cracks in the rubber hatch wire tube.

Really need a copy of a clear wiring diagram.

Any chance this is available on the forum. Did a look but did not see one.
I have looked online but only found lo-res one that is impossible to read.

Sure appreciate any help.

You have a 3rd gen T4R...but you have posted in the 4th Gen forum section, you would have much better luck posting your issue in the 3rd Gen forum section and possbily get someone that knows more about 3rd Gens and or has experienced a similar issue and resolved it!

Sparky isn't going to "fix" the HVAC, that is all me. Back when I "reengineered" it (link: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/2452880-post1419.html ), I didn't take into more consideration a light dispurser. What I used (stock one that came with it, which was stupid on my part b/c it was made for a 6v incandescent light as opposed to a LED strip) wasn't enough, thus the ugly blotchy effect.

Anyway, [MENTION=210043]Johns06yota[/MENTION] has a LED kit that comes with white LED for the HVAC backlight, reverse polar film and other LEDs (can't find his website now). Anyway, I'm going to transfer the guts of the HVAC back into a stock one and just use the LED (2 of them) to light up the background. The 12V LED should provide enough light to make them look good.

Regarding the cluster, well, it's a repair job. The LEDs that where installed years ago died (lesson: don't get cheap LEDs).

Previous owner broke a few skid plate bolts and stripped threads. My skid plates were held on with two bolts each...

Today I took the drill and m8 helicoil kit to the broken and stripped holes. Pic of one of the broken bolt tips next to the WD40 can and appropriate sentiment below.

The stainless threads are now stronger than stock. Not to mention the bolts go in butter smooth with permatex antiseize applied.

i see i see. get new hid bulbs for the civic yet? im trying out the cbb and its pretty good for my eyes. i switch it out time to time to warmer color.

Where did you get your leather seat replacement from? Feel it matches up pretty well?

I would also be interested in who/where you got the seat bottom cover from and the price if you don't mind saying, I would do the install myself.

I would also love to hear how the installer remove the bottom without pullng the seat if you were watching him do it?

Taking care of some stuff under the hood today! Just placed an order for a new battery. Opted to go with the X2 Power AGM 27F, should be ready for pickup in a few hours.

Going to place an order and add a blue sea fuse block under the hood as well. Trying to clean things up a bit, and these accessories are only going to accumulate more. Best to nip it in the bud before it becomes a rats nest!

Spent part of the evening cleaning up my engine bay, but ran out of steam pretty quickly. It's not too dirty, but some of the rubber hoses have some dirt accumulation that's starting to irritate me...such is life in the deset.

Also ordered some completely pointless but shiny TRD stuff. Got the radiator cap and oil plug, as well as a red battery clamp from AJT design.

The world didn’t want me rebuilding/revalving my coilovers today [emoji23] Coils were wound opposite of what they should be which means no off-the-shelf spring compressor would work. On the hunt for 600lb 13” long springs now so I can actually work on these things myself down the road. Frustrating to say the least

That's funny you mention the CBBs. My Civic has a set of Morimoto 3Fives bulbs and they are, meh. They "get the job done", but they are NOT CBIs, LOL. 4Runner still has the CBIs installed after 4 years and I'm very happy with them. Anyway, I'm debating on whether to go with the CBB or CBI for my Civic.

Go to ebay and type Toyota 4Runner drivers seat leather bottom and you'll see plenty of options. I got mine for $130, but they normally list for $180. Not bad IMHO. As far as match, they are near perfect. In my pictures you can note a slight difference in color and texture, but let me assure you my seat are very dirty and need a scrubbing badly.

There was a wire loom that just didn't want to come out, so we took all 4 seat bolts off and keep the seat plugged in so that we (he) could move the seat whenever he needed access to either part of the seat. When the seat is unplugged and you try to get the bottom cover off WHILE it's in the car, it's damn near impossible. Anyway, he did it and it didn't take him 10 minutes. Again, realize he installs leather seats on cars pretty much every day.

you can go cbb or the philips extreme white vision? i have to look at lightwerkz video to see whats whiter and brighter.

Replaced the X-reas on my 07 with 5100's, new Toyota springs (only 2 sets left in the states), Napa's best calipers, pads, and ultra premium coated rotors. Took a while due to cross-threaded and spinning lug studs on one of the hubs, probably due to the monkeys who mounted the tires. Thankfully Napa had a hub assembly in stock. Used the "no spring compressor method", it was relatively straight forward.
