Did you put Red Locktite on those bolts? The book says to do that.

Yep! The tow truck driver looked at me and said "You are very, very lucky"

And no, I torqued them to spec but didn't realize I needed red locktite on em. I'm going to go back over the rest of those bolts and put it on now, though.

Got incredibly lucky on Saturday. Heard a little *ping* on my way over to some mountain bike trails in a local park. Was suspicious but everything drove fine so I thought nothing of it.

As I was back out of my parking spot later my front right tire started dragging. I pumped the brakes thinking it might be a stuck caliper and put it in 4WD in case it was something screwy with the drivetrain. Move the car forward and it was fine. Reversed in 4WD and it seemed fine.

Got to the end of the park entrance and decided to jump under and take a look before I got too far.

Who can spot the missing bolt?

Was a lesson to me to always recheck bolt torque after 100 miles or so after doing work. Soooo glad it didn't turn out as bad as it could've if I'd kept driving on it.

All I can say is WOW, you were unlucky but more lucky at the same time, it could have been disastrous if it had come apart on a highway at 70 mph!!

Yeah, I'm honestly amazed it made it the few miles it did to the park.

The last major rainstorm we had ended up soaking my passenger side floorboard. Got the water damage all taken care of shortly after, bet never actually fixed the problem.

So, I took some flexible galvanized wire, sanded the edge down smooth and used that to clear the top drains. Water immediately started going down the drain holes, but wasn't trickling out the bottom.

Thanks to this forum, I decided to look behind one of the panels where the drains exit. A laughable amount of debris had accumulated there over the last decade and a half of being parked outside. Cleaned it all out and now it's draining perfectly! I couldn't believe the amount of debris, so I'm definitely going to be finding a way to put some mesh up top so it won't collect there in the future.

hey - did you just undo a section of the fender liner to access the drain area? is there a drain hole alone the rocker that you exposed and used a wire on? can you let me know a few more details - i really need to do this and thanks

I pulled the nasty sounding subwoofer and glued the foam to the cone. I don't know how long it will last but it sounds way better. I see speakerworks sells a foam replacement kit, I'll go that route if it fails in short order.

Installed the missing control arm bolt! As much as I love my Volvo, I can't stand having the 4Runner down for the count. It's supposed to be the reliable vehicle

Rotated the tires and did some prep for my annual under body clean up and paint. Also reorganized the cargo area for Upcoming Beach weather.

Here's a few photos that should steer you in the right direction. I didn't pull the panel far away at all. Just enough to get a flathead screwdriver or a finger in there and swept the debris out. You may need to go along the bottom edge as well depending on how much debris is in there. I didn't have to unclog any drains down there, only up top at the sunroof opening in the corners.

thank you...i see you popped some clips to get behind that panel. i take it that panel is the fender lining? almost looks like it is part of your fender without a crease to the left of the pic. im going to do this soon i bet its why my passenger floor is flooding during rain (just wet carpet not flood)

thank you...i see you popped some clips to get behind that panel. i take it that panel is the fender lining? almost looks like it is part of your fender without a crease to the left of the pic. im going to do this soon i bet its why my passenger floor is flooding during rain (just wet carpet not flood)

Yep, just the clips that are holding the fender liner to the side skirt/fender panel. My clips were quite brittle for 15 years of 120+ degree summers. Easy to replace though!

It's easy to test to make sure you've cleared any blockage. Just open the sunroof and pour a bit of water in the drain holes. If u see it coming out the bottom, you've hopefully solved your issue!

Today, I got to replace the factory trailer wiring plug. I replaced it with an aftermarket part that has both the 7 pin connector, but also a 4 pin connector. It plugged right into the factory connectors. I had to customize the bracket it came with. But just a little grinding and drilled 2 new holes. I also finally did the part 2 of the foglight mod.

If I remove the fuse to the Auto Height Control...What happens? My rear end seems elevated a little, my SUV is a 2004..

I can't factually answer your question, but I would think the Auto Height function would no longer work, how this will affect how it rides I can't say, worst case is you pull the fuse and see how it does, if it behaves badly put the fuse back in.

I'm not sure you will get a firm answer before tonight or maybe even tomorrow because the forum is not that busy on the weekends, everyone's out doing their planned weekend activities.

Today I replace the tailgate window motor and regulator. Now the rear window works properly, the wiper/washer now works, and so does the defroster.

I replaced the lightbulbs for the shifter, rear window switch, and center diff lock switch.

I also swapped out the aftermarket rear view camera tag frame. With an factory style aftermarket camera. It mounted in one of the license plate lights.
