What did you do with your 4runner today?

Now I let it rest due to my work but when I get home there is a lift 2.5 ", parking sensor, longboard and surf days:thumb:

Got back from a 700km trip and while I was getting the mud off as thoroughly as I could I noticed this:


Rear Lower Control Arm nut fell off somewhere and the bolt almost backed itself out completely. I did not feel anything strange but I'm pretty happy I caught it when I did. Can't imagine what would have happened if that arm dropped while on the highway.

Managed to get a new nut on in the parking lot of work. I had to use a ratchet straps to get the bolt all the way back through.


Any one else ever had this issue?

I've heard it happen to guys with aftermarket lower links shortly after installing them. That's why I made sure to tighten the snot out of mine.

I've heard it happen to guys with aftermarket lower links shortly after installing them. That's why I made sure to tighten the snot out of mine.

You're kidding!

Did not know that! Why do you think that would be? Extended lower links just help with the leveling the sway bar out no?

Not sway bar endlinks, these puppies:

FJ Cruiser/4Runner Suspension Links | Offset Rear Lower Links

Because they don't tighten them down enough after they install the new parts presumably.

Finished painting the last wheel. Dark copper rims with a black center cap. Wire brushed, cleaned, cleaned with simple green, cleaned with dish soap, sprayed self etch, sprayed normal primer, sprayed metallic paint, sprayed clear. We'll see how long it lasts. Sorry for the dirty vehicle. The tires are also rather oxidized, they're old and I don't think the previous owner ever cleaned them, with new clean tires it should look a lot better.

thank you. Just my opinion but I think it does look better with the boards. I do really like the door handles, I never thought about blacking out the handles. Did you do that with plast dip?

That makes more sense!
The shop I had install the lift never touched that bolt so could have just been bad luck I guess.
I'll just try and make it a habit of crawling around and checking bolts are tight periodically I guess.

Because of your issue I will be checking mine and even if they're tight I will be buying some locking nuts to put on mine, I would suggest you also use locking nuts!!

I’m gonna space my wheels out about 2” so taking the boards off is gonna make it look a lot better, and if I were to get boards back I would probably go with nerf bars.

As for the handles, yes they are plasti dipped with black electric tape on the back to ensure no peeling when opening the door, the rest of the chrome on my car is also plasti dipped

Towed 80 miles with a 3,300lb boat and got 17mpg at 60mph on a level state highway. Pretty good for a 14 yr old vehicle with 205,000 miles. Engine, transmission and brakes all ran well.

I will put a few hundred miles on this rig this weekend, will report Monday afternoon.

This is what I did today....

I installed the URD 255lph fuel pump with external fuel filter and replaced my injectors with OEM denso. Not to bad overall, I've had to deal with worse things when working other vehicles.
