I scored at the junkyard last week pulling from an 07 limited T4R 2WD. I pulled all 4 door panels with black wood inserts, absolutely beautiful. Didn't even know that Toyota made that trim. Got the HVAC controls, gauge cluster, gauge panel, right LED tail light (left one was gone, hmu if you got one for sale lol), E7008 touchscreen NAV headunit, and JBL speakers.

Installed the door panels and speakers. Wow they're amazing. How much difference in sound quality is awesome. And the black wood on the door panels is gorgeous.

Found out i got get another $250 in wiring harnesses for the E7008 headunit so I'm just going to sell that along with my other silver/black suede door panels.

How long do i have to wait till i can sell on the classifieds?

What wiring harness do you need for that headunit? Last time I was doing research, I think the one compatible with JBL 4Runners was only $95~ or so on Amazon. That was last year

Well I wanted to add an extra USB port but I ended up with 4 more and one additional cigarette lighter port. I added the smoker's kit which gave me an extra port. I ordered them at the same time but didn't expect to keep them all.

The two center ports charge at 3.0A whereas the port on the right has 1 port that charges at 1.0A and one that is for Apple CarPlay.

Today I, for the first time since it arrived in mid-July...Drove my 4Runner!!!!

:bounce:

I love it. It just glides and is so effortless to just waft along in.

Today the Georgia 4Runners FB group held the Cashes Valley Summer Cruise on one of north Georgia's most popular trails. Our group member Camdon Wishnia's drone caught this shot of my silver '07 SE. Love it. And btw, my grandson took my avatar pic on the same trail!

If anybody here is in Georgia and not in our group already, you're welcome anytime!

I forgot about my spark plugs for 83,000 miles so I changed them. Four of them fought me pretty valiantly. They went in with a .041 gap and came out with a .058 gap. [emoji51]

Three things accomplished
First was a driveline service. I greased front ball joints I replaced with Moog ones.
Second installed some Rad Rubber engine splash guards. Mine were finally on their way out.
Lastly, drained the transmission pan, took down the pan, replaced the filter and replenished the 4.5 quarts. Only broke one transmission pan bolt. No luck on drilling it out :-(

Been working on mine this weekend but having electrical trouble. It has set in my garage for over a year with the battery pulled. Installed a new battery and now the power window, sun roof, hatch window, signal lights and wippers will not work. I have pulled the air bag to replace the sterring wheel (which is still out). Have no clue what the electrical trouble is. All fuses are good. Maybe the body ecu has lost its memory. What do you guys think?

Changed my window weather seal all around - roll down window, snap out old seal, clean, replace new seal. For 4th gen 4Runner, for side windows, there’s a screw you need to unscrew before snapping out the seals. Just in time this coming winter.

Broken side window weather seal replaced with new (part number in photo). Note: for 4th generation 4Runner, there's a screw that holds the seal on the inside of the door.

Found both of mine ripped as well while doing other maintenance. Frustrating to say the least seeing as the boots only lasted a year. Let’s hope the warranty process isn’t too difficult.

First time I did it, it was after 10 years or so. Definitely a noticeable improvement. I've done it every 2 years since, not much of a change.

I’ve owned it since ‘13 and 90k miles. Currently at 169k and I doubt it’s ever been done.

Installed a new headunit. Some ramblings and pictures from my 3rd gen build where I occasionally post 4th gen stuff.

With the chip shortage I had been waiting patiently for the headunit I wanted in the 4th gen to come back in stock. I wanted the Kenwood Excelon DMX706S for the Android Auto functionality, Bluetooth, backup camera, and idatalink Maestro that is compatible with newer cars OBD2 system.

It finally came back in stock for a couple days at Crutchfield so I pulled the trigger. It showed up and I wasted no time getting it installed. The wiring was easy, once you realize you don’t need half the cables it ships with. The instructions from idatalink are a bit lacking.

Hooking it up is easy too, the worst part is running the backup camera harness through the hatch…

But in the end you are left with a headunit that has Android Auto functionality for nav, voice/speech recognition, hands free calling/texting, backup camera, and it will display your tire pressure and temperature, and a set of various gauges.

The only thing it doesn’t display that I wish it did is transmission temperature. I’m sure it can do it, but per idatalink it can’t. It should be nothing more than another PID that needs to be loaded. I will try to reach out to them and see if we can get that added for the 4th gen. The later 5th gens have it I believe. My scangauge in the 3rd gen displays transmission temp…

I wired up the backup camera so I can access it at any point. That will allow me to check on loads in the trailer. Or see how close that person following me really is

It will also give dynamic backup camera guidelines that turn with the wheel. Not really needed, but it’s a neat feature.

The new headunit really makes the JBL sound nice and clear. Once I get the new 6.5” speakers in the rear doors of the 3rd gen I am curious how the two compare. Stock 4th gen JBL speakers with aftermarket headunit, versus upgraded speakers, headunit, amp, and some sound deadening in the 3rd gen.

I also had the sunroof tinted in the 4th gen with Air80 to block the heat and UV from coming through when the shade is open, but not block the light from coming through. It seems to make a difference.

Nice setup. I bought my Pioneer headunit, wiring harness, backup camera and remote start from Crutchfield about 2 years ago. In hindsight I regret not getting the iDatalink. I just got their wiring harness and Pac module to retain the steering wheel controls.

Rough Idle

I got a nasty idle after coming to a stop on the way home on Friday. First trouble I've had with this vehicle. Contacted previous owner and the set of plugs in there have either 60,000 or 100,000 miles on them, coils are factory set. Sooooo $260 later, I have a set of NGK plugs and NGK coil packs on order, due for arrival Thursday. So that's fun I guess.

nice radio, im thinking of updating my system too, looking at the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX
i did the printout of the screen for mock up on my dash, it is just right to me.
too bad i need to spend around 1400-1500 for it. dont really need the adapter harness, but i just need to run the odb wires. my system hook up right now is just 4 wires, ignition, accessory and ground and remote turn on. thats why i really dont want to pay for that harness.

too bad i still cant buy it right now, saving the money i have to maintain the other 2 vehicles i take care of.
