Put these ditch light brackets intended for 05-15 Tacomas on.

They fit ok but don’t have much, if any adjustment. They actually touch the end filler pieces of the cowl slightly when the hood is fully open. My cheapie light pods hit the a-pillar/windshield with the hood fully open so I ordered different cheapie light pods. I’ll post that pic after they arrive and get installed. Install wasn’t too difficult but would have been easier if I had an extra set of hands to keep the hood still.
Replaced missing and broken clips on the radiator cover and started making new rubber splash guards for the front fender well. Mine dried and rotted out years ago.

Installed some generic sport seats today, mounted them on the factor sliders with a couple custom L brackets and the fit perfectly. Way more comfy than the factory seats.

Spark Plugs and Coil packs
Howdy all, This 3 day weekend I'm doing some more overdue projects on the 4runner. A few weeks ago was an air filter, today its spark plugs and coil packs. As far as I can tell, the coils are OE from Toyota. These plugs I think have about 100,000 on them. Also put a borescope down into the cylinders, they're all very clean. Hardly any carbon deposits. I know the two previous owners of this vehicle, and its got all highway miles on it, and that's basically what it is for me as well. The oil and piston tops are both very clean, this makes me happy to see. All 6 of the pistons look like this. Very cool.
The plugs however, I've never seen any come out this worn! The plugs that came out were iridium, I've replaced them with NGKs of the same flavor. I also replaced the coils with NGK coils- had I known the OE coils were made by Denso I would have ordered Denso coils, however from some brief reading it sounds like some vehicles got NGK from factory so w/e. It only cost about $40 more to get NGK units. Oh well.

Light bar looks good. I’m currently on fj coils front and rear, and 5100s in front on lowest setting.Finally mounted my light bar. Cut out the lower portion of the grill to hide it somewhat.
Next thing I’m gonna do is new rims and bigger tires. Possibly a little more lift as well. Anyone have any good ideas currently I’m running 5100s with 5th gen coils.

Soon I’ll be getting new 5100s for the front and putting them on their highest setting, and 5160s in the back, paired with bilsteins heavy spring, its supposed to be about a 2.2” lift from stock, so should be about another 1.8 or 2” taller vs the fj spring in the back. In front, the 5100 is supposed to be what, 2.25” lift from stock on tallest setting? Not sure what it’ll be with the fj spring but I’d like it to sit closer to level with the heavy rear coils and the maxed out slot in front.
I’m getting the heavy coils because I’m starting to do more home improvement projects, and I borrowed my boss’s flatbed trailer the other day and unloaded the dang thing was just about on the bump stops. Trailer only weighs like 2,800 pounds dry with (whats supposed to be) 10% on the hitch. I don’t see how these little trucks can be rated for 5,000 pounds with 500 on the hitch if that flatbed will pull the back down to the ground like that. Anyway.

Amazon delivered my light pods today. I was able to get those installed on the ditch light brackets that I installed the other day.

While the cowl was removed to run wires, I installed mesh over the cabin air intake. I’ve had a rodent get in there once and chew on the filter. I just used hardware cloth as I had nothing fancier lying around.
Also finished the diy fender liners. Fronts turned out nice, rears look weird and need to be redone.

Do these brackets contact the hood when it is open? I remember you saying that the fitment isn't great on these brackets. I also have a cheapie set of light pods I want to pull off of my old truck and put on a pair of the Cali-Raised brackets, but if I can save the $30 on the brackets I'd like to.

No they do not contact the hood. They bolt over the hood bracket on the underside of the hood. They tilt with the hood. Where they contact is the small plastic cowl end piece just slightly with the hood fully open. I had to use 8mmx20mm bolts to attach to pod to the bracket and it clears fine there.

I’ve got the same setup, though my truck didn’t have XREAS. I think I achieved 3/2 but hard to tell since the old suspension was so sagged. Anyway, here’s a visual of how 285/70/17s looks versus stock 265/65/17.

Roof Rack Upgrade
Added a floor to my Sherpa Equipment roof rack on my 2008 4Runner Limited. Turned out awesome and really helps spread the weight around if you're standing or sitting up there (shooting rabbits in the desert, etc). I mounted with t-nuts and bolts with washers as well as 250 pound rated zip ties just to solidify it more. I don't anticipate it moving! I used PolyMax poultry flooring and cut it to size. The stuff is awesome. Light and rigid.

That looks pretty good. Is that the non-overlapping flooring, and did you have to trim it to fit across? I wonder if that would fit a factory roof rack?
