What did you do with your 4runner today?

I installed some BD Squadrons and threw a couple "uber" shackles on...the color choice is more function over fashion mind you...

I’ve got the same setup, though my truck didn’t have XREAS. I think I achieved 3/2 but hard to tell since the old suspension was so sagged. Anyway, here’s a visual of how 285/70/17s looks versus stock 265/65/17.

Those tires look quite big in the picture but looks good. Are you getting any rubbing? At what height/settings are you running the front shocks? What rear springs?

Running the 6112s with 650lb spring on setting 3. I had it on 5 and it was too tall. Rears are 5160s with an Icon 2” spring.

Caster is 3.6 on both sides. Fender liner is pushed way forward and there’s no rubbing in the front. I didn’t not think the bumper at all. I removed the mud flaps and trimmed the inner fender where the mud flap was. It will rub the body mount on full lock but that’s being addressed soon.

Changed out my spark plugs and wanted to share what I have found to be a helpful tip: label the ignition coils so you can take them off without having to worry about what goes where. There’s a smudge on the front passenger side one but it says PF and the back one says PR, driver’s side is similar with DF & DR.

I also added engine bay lighting. The LED strip came with a switch that would activate the lights when the hood is open, but I only want them on when needed so I wired up a simple on/off switch, illuminated blue at lower right in the lit pic. Full write up coming soon.

The difference is actually much greater but I took this photo in a well-lit parking lot.

Watched it sit...

Watched it sit in the driveway. I've done sooner interior upgrades to bring it into the modern era but I have some rear undercarriage issues. So, sit it will until that gets sorted out

Atoto s8

What up good people? I’m new to all this so please forgive my ignorance and appreciate any feedback/info you all have. Just got my first 4Runner the other day (05 Limited V8).

1. Everything is currently stock (JBL setup) and working as expected. Looking to upgrade the head unit to have a touchscreen, apple carplay, and a backup camera. Those are my must haves. Suggestions?

2. Curious to how much this all may run too? I will be paying to install. My gut was saying 300-500?

3. After some reading on here I see that some offer the cars data (tire PSI, temps, etc) which is cool and would include those if possible. Feel free to enlighten me on the benefits of any other headunits or features I’m not aware of.

Thanks folks and looking forward to being a learner from you all!

Check out the atoto s8. It comes in 7inch or 10 if you like the Tesla thing. Wireless car play and wired Android Auto. About a 30 minute thing after a few videos. I spent around $350 including wire harness head unit and mounting kit. Not too bad but the steering wheel controls don't work yet until I shell out a bit more for a control unit.

Where did you purchase from? Mainly the wiring harness for our vehicles?

I’m running the 650lb on the front and 2” superflex coils on the back. When I first installed the fronts I was running the driver at 5 and passenger 3. I didn’t like the feel or how it was so I got a 1/4” spacer and put both at setting 3. I haven’t done an alignment since I’m waiting for my UCA. Hopefully by the end of the month I’ll have it all dialed in with some new tires.

For the V8s the instructions on Bilstein.com show using the same clip height. I also have a 1/4” spacer on the driver end it’s almost level (depending on how much gas I have). In hindsight a 3/8” spacer would have been perfect.

When you get it aligned see if they can get the caster closer to 4. I’d rather trim the bumper than need a BMC. Mines fine on road for now but with -10 offset and 285s it’s going to need to get done.

Changed the transmission filter and replaced the rear differential fluid. I have been draining and refilling the transmission fluid for the last two weeks so it’s pretty clean now. Only maintenance I have left to do now is the power steering fluid, coolant flush and the bypass pipe “O” ring. I can’t wait to be done so my weekends are open for some fun trips.

If you don't have a BMC, I would get it asap. you think its rubbing now..wait till you go off road and flex lol. :heh:

Tried searching what is causing a clunking noise whenever i am accelerating between 0-40mph. It seems like the noise is coming from the passenger side. Already replaced my worn out cv axles and ujoints from the drive shafts but the noise is still there.

The sway bar bushings will clunk when they wear out. It fixed mine.

Im going with Lower control arm bushings.. I dealt with a similar issue I chased years ago..

Mount or ziptie a gopro underneath looking at lca's and drive around the block.. watch how much play there is

***Oh look I actually found my video GOPR0122 - YouTube

For the overlanding guys and gals, cargo net attic storage is ridiculously cheap, easy and fast to implement.. $28 from Amazon and 15 mins of work.
