What did you do with your 4runner today?

I installed the Sprint Booster today. Super easy install, only took a minute.

I was tired of the "lag" when really stepping on the pedal and feeling so sluggish below ~40mph. I'm a pretty aggressive driver and thought I'd settle somewhere in the "Race" mode but after driving around I settled on Sport-6 as my preferred setting.

It's pretty remarkable how much "lighter" the 4Runner feels now. It's sportier, more connected, and overall just more fun to drive now.

I don't really know if it's worth $285 but considering you can't really get the same effect for cheaper, you're kind of stuck. It's a big difference, no way you wouldn't notice even if you were skeptical. For that reason, I'm happy with it. If I got another vehicle I wouldn't wait as long to get another Sprint Booster.

FYI, the Sprint Booster is made in Greece. I can't confirm but I heard the Pedal Commander was made in China. For that reason alone I'd choose the Sprint Booster over the Pedal Commander.

I swapped out my 88k OEM rotors and pads and brake lines for some EBC rotors and Stop tech pads and SS lines...flushed fluid and bled brakes...feels nice and tight and certainly stops MUCH sooner while bedding...but I must have seized calipers because it is now making an awful noise when rolling...took wheels off to check dust guard but for sure the calipers...Argh! I wish I wasn't getting good at doing things twice...oh well, cheaper me than outsourced...I also swapped to Timbren bump stops on rear...I also replaced my SPC UBJs as the first time I did them I over-pumped too much grease and they've been leaking since...nice a new looking now...I'll replace my Icon rear shocks that are blown when I redo the calipers...any suggestions on calipers besides BBK stuff? Or, any to avoid? I need to order them ASAP! Happy Mother's Day badass moms and dads who mom!

Didn’t have a chance to post last night but…Ran a bunch of trails that I hadn’t before and a few that I had. Part of the trail is remnants of the 4WP Desert Showdown race course. Saw some wild horses and burros, checked out some local petroglyphs and a few springs. Also checked out some abandoned cabins. Got the Mrs. behind the wheel for a while to navigate some areas that had washed out in a flash flood last year.

Trying to replace upper rear trailing arms, what a job!! Driver side nut/bolt over fuel tank took every bit of strength I had for about the last 40/50 turns, right to the last. Took me over an hour and Liquid Wrench to get the nut to just break free, you can only turn it about half a hex even then.
Passenger side not as bad, but took a lot of grunt on the forward one all the way. Putting in new arms with Super Pro bushings and the bushings are about 1-1.5 mm wider than the stock ones so it takes some grunt to get them lined up.
Other arms won't be as bad, had them all off recently, but they getting replaced with Super Pro bushed arms as well. Too old for this work anymore!

Subwoofer replacement

I had an annoying rattle coming from the subwoofer I decided to deal with. I’m the original owner of an 03 limited with the 10 speaker JBL system.
I’m really happy with the system. And being that I’ve added the GTA kit to connect my Apple device via Bluetooth to the original system, as well a dedicated GPS install that includes a backup camera I see no reason to move from the factory system. Also knowing that it is all at 2ohms. Any changes are going to require a complete rebuild of the audio.
So I decided to just find a plug and play upgrade on the sub. And via this site I found a recommendation and went with it. I replaced the sub with a Pioneer TS A2000 LD2
Couldn't have been easier. Used original screw mounting holes, just cut off wiring connection plugs. Stripped the wire and added some solder to wire ends to make a more secure connection and hooked them up. Red is positive on 1 side and black is positive on the other side. Bing bang and all back to get again and rocking to tunes.
When I want to test the thump I play a live recording of Eagles Hotel California that has a deep drum opening.

I painted and installed a rear recovery point on the passenger side since I cut my exhaust tip off. I have one from a forum member here and the other side is from overlandcustomdesigns.com which I believe is a member of t4r.org as well.

Got to test the Napa awning and it worked pretty well in the Montana/Wyoming wind.

The West Dakota winds...er...eastern MT winds, are robust! If it can last through those, it's a worthy investment!

Hello everybody- speaking of the CV axle boot issue- I need to order new ones for mine as well- I’m looking at Rock Auto right now and I see a whole bunch of options that don’t have an ABS tone ring, and only one option that states it has a tone ring where required… do the 4th gens pull the ABS signal from the CV axles?

I’ve also got some other stuff to order from them- LED headlight bulbs, a new serpentine belt, maybe a couple other items.

Got my driver's side lower dashboard dyed/painted last night and reinstalled today. Looks so much better!

One of the side benefits of doing this was finally removing the air sensor that's below the ignition. It was completely covered in dust and couldn't have been functioning very well. I just thoroughly blasted it with MAF cleaner and it looked brand new. :thumb:

Well, I knocked out what I started and ended up having to correct last week...started with new EBC brake rotors, pads, SS lines and new fluid...ordered wrong sized rotors (319mm but needed 338mm) and found I had two seized calipers...I received my new DBA rotors and pads in a couple days and the 5th gen Powerstop calipers came in Friday...went fast so I threw in new Icon shocks in the rear too.. today was a good day...

Just got my 05 V8 Sport and have been going to work on a bunch of little issues. Did the TPMS bypass trick because I’m not going to bother with how buggy THAT system is. And lucked out troubleshooting the back window that wasn’t going down. Was just a bad fuse. Loving my 4Runner so far!

Combination of 2 weekend's worth of work, but changed a cv axle, installed some Overland Custom Designs sway bar links, installed OME heavy springs and shocks front and rear as well as OME upper control arms, new Rock Trix wheels, 33" BFG KO2s and a Sherpa Princeton rack.

Finally upgraded to 5th gen calipers and rotors and added new pads and hoses.

Is there any longer term reviews of this upgrade? My friend manages a shop and he says he gets 5th gen 4runners all the time with front caliper issues.
