What did you do with your 4runner today?

I did something similar, took a couple days but once it dried out everything has been fine. Might be worth it to wait till the end of the week and see if they stay on. Definitely check your diffs for any water incursion though, don't want to blow those.

Already changed my diff fluid when I got back home as a precaution. Pretty certain every issue I'm seeing is electrical. I ran the garage heater all day yesterday with the windows down and garage fan turned on to dry things out. Also took off the kick panels and blasted all electrical connections I could see with compressed air. Hopefully it all fixes itself but I'm pretty pessimistic about that.

Following the Jiffy oil change I renewed the air filter. It was high time too.

Update: disconnected the 4wd ecu and ABS module, both sit at the bottom of the glove box and had water in the connectors. After blasting the water out with some compressed air, no more center diff lock issues! Flashing airbag light and door ajar light: still at large.

Drain and fill on the transmission. Easy peasy until you knock over some old transmission fluid in the garage. That will turn an easy job turns into a cleanup nightmare.

This brought back fond memories of when my PS fluid exchange went horribly wrong.

Wait a minute, I did something like that too with my power steering. Long story short, while manually moving the steering wheel back-and-forth with the reservoir return line disconnected I decided to start the truck. The rest is history. I forgot the exact details as my brain tries to block them out. It must think I’m embarrassed or some crazy thing like that.

IIRC, the method I was using to block or plug the one little tube where you take the hose off fell off and that was that.

Today I received my new PowerStop Stealth Edition parking brake shoes. Seriously. Box was delivered, I opened it, and this:

It wasn't taped shut or anything so who knows if the goods fell out, were swiped, whatever. They're shipping a new set, hopefully a bit more securely this time.

$1200 and some change later…I got my brake unit ordered! Should be here shortly and installed when I get the rest of my parts from the deer hit! I cannot wait until she’s back to normal!

Contact cleaner usually does the trick, use wd40 first then and actual electric contact cleaner.

If you plan on doing it again you can add dielectric grease for added peace of mind.

at least that is what I tell myself.

I actually considered adding some dielectric grease, and am probably going to - good call!

I got the SRS module out today... not fun! It's supposed to be covered in mud, right? Used one was $80 so rather than trying to salvage this one, I'm replacing with used which will be here in a few days. Anyone know if srs modules need to be programmed?

Never changed an srs module, but I've heard a buddy with a shop mention they do need reprogramming.

I spray some contact cleaner on the airbag sensors too, there should be 8 if I'm not mistaken.
(2 on the front radiator support bracket, 2 under the front seats, 2 on the lower side of the b pillar and 2 on the c pillar but those are shoulder height)

The flood line isn't too bad tho, check the sensors on the front, under the seats and by the b pillar.

good luck

Started my winch install. Decided that since I don’t have my recovery/frame tie-ins that I’d go on a trail run instead:D

Did you have to relocate control box? I think we have the same winch and bumper now. Glad to see it all fits lol.

The control box doesn’t seem to clear the hood release, at least on my initial test fit. I plan on mounting it back in front of the radiator. I haven’t decided on a spot yet exactly. Maybe below the horns. I also need to clearance the opening behind the fair lead because the cable seems to drag along the bottom opening edge. I have the Smittybilt xrc gen 2 9500.

Thanks bro, these are great tips to look out for. I have the same winch have all the stuff to switch over to synthetic. Factor 55 stuff.

I think the Hawse fair lead for synthetic rope might fit better on this bumper. The fair lead that came with the winch is massive lol.

Yeah I just looked at your build thread again and saw the last post. That thing is pretty bulky huh? Hopefully everything goes smooth that day. I will be posting in here when done for sure.
