having shifting issues
Spent an insane amount of money getting this 4runner up and running- including a new engine. Now im having a shifting problem, the vehicle jerks when i shift (from park to drive) and sometimes it doesnt and im trying to figure out if its the vacuum hose or the transmission altogether. the 4runner has been sitting for a long while because the old block was cracked and it wouldnt take gas(has a charcoal canister delete now) drove it ten hours to ohio from tennesse and I did notice there was whistling at great speeds. if it is the vacuum hose can someone point me to a site or video of how to install a new hose or which hose it is that needs replace- or if its the transmission im planning on just selling it which makes me beyond sad. but ive sunk enough money into it. so hopefully it just needs fluid or a hose, had a friend tell me it felt like the gears were slipping but i dont know if he is that reliable when it comes to any machine lol. any help is appreciated .
it is 2004 4runner sr5 v8 4.7L rwd.

Replaced the starter's innards and reinstalled it, changed the oil, and rotated my tires. I still have my SS brake lines to do and I'm going to change the radiator, thermostat, and hoses at 270K (next scheduled coolant change). I'm at 240K now.

I'm considering doing this also, keep us updated after the install. Curious how much added cab noise it will create, and if the added power and fuel economy claimed is actually noticeable.
Will do. I was torn between buying new OEM Toyota manifolds with new cats or the DT headers, $1200 vs $1050. On one hand I get good manifolds, the other I get new cats since you can't really trust the OEM manifold long term lol
I did nothing with the 4runner today. I'll move to a different part of the BLM in 2 days then get more food in town 9 miles down to road. Been 2 years now almost and been staying in RV parks for winter, once near Tampa, and this year near Vegas. Out in Colorado now and see how long I can go with paying less fees.

Dang full send pulling the headliner and doing the roof too. Nicely done! Also, headers look rad, look forward to hearing what you think after the install...
Oh yeah what fun that was! Had the headliner out in a few hours and it all put back together in a few more hours lol. Only broke a few clips in the process. I sound deadened and heat insulated my Tacoma and I swear the HVAC worked way better after I did. After driving around yesterday in 90* weather, it definitely worked and was 100% worth the effort. Now I need to order more sound deadener to do the floor
And some exhaust flange gaskets so I can get these headers in :target:

my truck got more quieter when i did the roof. my doors is all treated with dynamat xtreme, floors and roof and cargo area all done with second skin damplifier pro.
More fun stuff today. Sound deadener installed everywhere and closed cell foam added to the roof. Painted 2 wheels also, will get to the others tomorrow.
Right on. All the stuff I used is off Amazon lol. Siless brand. Worked great in my last truck

About a month ago I added one of those cheap "Dual" brand subs. It comes with a built in 300 watt amp and it's cheap. I wanted to add a little more base without spending too much or taking up too much usable space in the back. It actually sounds pretty good so this week I added a 2nd one. My logic was I could get a little more bass and at the same time I could run two of them on a little lower setting and maybe they'll last longer. It really hits pretty hard and pushes out some deep bass. It's not strong enough that it'll make people at red lights turn to look but it sounds good and it's all I wanted. If anyone is interested you can get them at Walmart for $98. But if you order it online it's only $86 with free shipping. It really improved the overall sound of my system.
ARRRGGGHHHH!!! I went to get a link to post on here and now this speaker online is only $69.45!! I just bought my 2nd one last week for $86! Anyway, this is it:

****Update: My wife pointed out to me that the $69 price is through a Chinese seller on Walmart.com and he has a bad rating. You can still get it for $86 through Walmart which is what I'd recommend if you want one of these.

I sound deadened the doors and floor, which made a huge different. Was the roof panel easy to take off?
1) Coolant Change in my 1GR-FE. Only took 2 gallons out and in....manual said 2.6... block drains worked very well
2) noticed the rad cap center had grenaded. I think the center is now lost in the tank.. :-( . Got a new one from the dealer and it is installed.
3) Reinstalled the new H/L with the lamin-x on them....all new pins and a new bumper brace/mount on the driver's side.
4) R&R new bolts for the rear transport hook...the onld ones had corroded....
