What did you do with your 4runner today?

Added a second style temporary permanent fix on my CV boot.
Of course the fun part to watch on film would have been when the axle was spinning and the tape was sealing the crack but I didn't do that.

I moved it into the present today and got some Apple Car Play
However, I didn't test the mic and I realized after the fact I plugged it into the wrong spigot on the back of the receiver, so it's all coming apart again when the bulbs for the info panel come in next week
USB placement, drilled a hole and put zip ties on the ferrule to hold it in place. I might do something with a switch blank at some point

I always thought the black fog light surrounds looked out of place when everything else is the body color, so I painted mine to match.
The other thing that never made sense to me was that the fog lenses are 5 inches in diameter but the hole in the surrounds is only 4, so 20% of the potential light output is blocked. Not much you can do about that though.

I've been noticed an ever-present rattle in my front end, and after inspecting noticed my roll bar end links were shot, so I replaced those and the bushings. The steering is much nicer, but the rattle is still there.
The strut doesn't appear to be leaking, and the tie rods feel ok, so possibly a wheel bearing or control arm, not sure. The truck has over 220k miles on it, so I may just replace everything up front.

After 7 years on my Duracell group 27, I upgraded to a Northstar Power X2...I have these in my entire fleet and they are the best batteries I've ever used...my oldest us 9 years old and showing no signs of being tired...the runner feels like it starts like I'm using lightening! Ha!
Time to clean the engine bay! Sheesh!!

Finally a chance to post about this. Happy to say patience paid off this year as far as Black Friday strategy. Got free shipping on a Lost Trails lo-pro winch bumper, which fits perfectly with my "stealthy stock" mod style; a Warn 10K lb. EVO winch from Northridge 4x4 for $279 after a $150 rebate (still available through 15Dec); and picked up a new-in-box synthetic rope and fairlead locally on FB marketplace. Next up is painting the bumper and swapping in the synthetic for the steel cable on the Warn. Looking forward to getting everything installed. Pretty stoked b/c this is the end of the major mod journey - suspension, skids, sliders, and now winch.

After 7 years on my Duracell group 27, I upgraded to a Northstar Power X2...I have these in my entire fleet and they are the best batteries I've ever used...my oldest us 9 years old and showing no signs of being tired...the runner feels like it starts like I'm using lightening! Ha!

I got that same battery for my 04 4Runner. I have had really good experience with this line of batteries.
Did you do the voltage mode? The AGM style battery requires a big more charging than a lead acid battery. Dirty Parts makes it easy for the 4th gen.

I replaced my rear axle bearings and seals on my 04 4Runner. They still seemed solid but after pulling them, they may have had water intrusion. I was surprised the axle seals weren't already leaking as there was a lot of grease on the outside of the seal on the drivers side. Passenger side wasn't so bad.
I used a handy tool made by a father and son shop here in my hometown. If you have a press and are performing rear axle service, you should really check this product out.

Yes, these are terrific batteries! I actually use a Ford diode found at most autoparts' stores that increases the alternator output to 14.8 while charging and holding 13.8-14.2 while cruising...I do the same in my tundra with great success and a happy AGM! Here's a GM version of what I used...literally the same thing...Amazon.com

Hey, what's going on bro... I am a new owner of a 2008 4 Runner. I am digging your build, just wondering what suspension should i get. Did you keep some OEMs for that lift or for anything for your 4Runner? My other question is, what did you do first to give it that aggressive build? Just wondering, and if anyone knows. Please let me know!
